As @oahuwriter mentioned, lots of vitamin C will boost the immune system to combat cold and flu symptoms. Keep your heat to a comfortable temperature. Don't fluctuate between hot and cool.

I shake it off with extra vitamin C. I start eating more canned button mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms add to soups. All good to fight and stop colds and flu. If it's a bad one good to see doctor for it.
