Stick to your guns or shake hands and come out smiling

One is principled stuff. The banker has accused me of a bunch of lies that have disturbed me a lot. I can accuse them of playing with my reputation, in public records, and make them miserable. I have a bunch of content that I can throw at their faces, and I would not be wrong. If the bank's reputation is important, so is mine. Hurling accusations at each other can be noisy and fun, when others are doing it. Not when I am a party in that scenario. My heart's lub dub goes lub lub dub dub. lub dub lub dub dub lub...yeah..I hate confrontation. And of course, at the end of it I would have all my monies as the judge would have given, not a penny lost in the order. Agreed it will take a while..may be a week or fortnight. Or may be it will go to the higher courts. But eventually it will come. At the other end, I can simply say, this is what I will not compromise on, and in addition, these are my expenses, and will be my expenses. This is the maximum I can relent. I would have compromised. It would not feel good of course. But going forward, I would have the stone lifted off my chest. The banker would have smug smile. I would feel defeated. Tired and defeated perhaps..even after winning the case, and getting a tad less than what the judge considers reasonable. All to get the monies in my bank within a fortnight, and close the chapter that has taken toll of my mental peace. The smug smiling banker is going to promise the world to me, saying you can avail loan from us anytime. My mind would be saying idjit that indemnity and undertaking asked just that. Banker would be thinking...good that she suffered, next time she won't cross swords with us. Whatever...4th of July ...American Independence day.. Will the 4th of July be mine too? Will I come out with as much dignity as possible? What would you have chosen? Would you think less of me, if I chose not to go to higher courts? Believe me it is not because my case has no merits. It is because I am tired of the legal system.

The bank manager arrived...at first he gave me sullen look as if he did not recognize me, then decided friendly is the way to go so he smiled, by the time I got into my beechey mood, when he said hi madam, I said you signed an affidavit saying we never met. Was I too beechey? I was all in grrrrrr mood after that. So through the bargain I said 1 lakh (100000 INR) for mental agony, 50000 for loss in value, 25000 for all legal and other expenses. My offer is final. My advocate felt it would have been better to close it at 1.50 as we were planning initially. I felt, if we had done that, bank would try to beat it down to 1.25. I am not prepared to let go of that man for calling my statements as false and concocted, and saying we never met...and bluffing that they were cooperating and whole lot of other lies. The guy really stirs negative stuff in me. LOL. Do you think that was undignified and unfair?

@Daljinder That has not come about...sigh..he brushed it aside as that should have been one of the conditions in the prayer, which I had not included.

Yeah..it seems a small thing. But if you consider that I planned to live my twilight years there, you would understand what that house means to me. :)

@mlgen1037 Yeah...dad also wanted to shift there after I cleared loans. He planned his kitchen garden in such a way that he does not have to bend down much and can walk around without injuring himself.

Always! And there is no way we can reform that because lawyers wouldn't like it any other way.

I hope you always choose what you feel is in your best interests, vanny... Nobody has the right to look down on you for what you do or how you feel about something. I will always support your decisions, even when I don't understand them.

If they are accusing you of it, they must have some sort of proof that you did what they claim you did.

I read it wrong...they have no proof. Logically .. I do. I have an email from the banker which indicates we had some conversation. And another document. But I would have liked telephone records, cc camera footage and data about location of cell phones. That can prove their perjury comprehensively, but for that I need court order, as it would be privacy invasion.
