Any particular plans for the 4th of July?

In the United States of America, we celebrate Independence Day today, July 4th. Many people get the day off from work, and some people watch fireworks displays on the evening of the 4th. Some of my kids at the preschool said they were looking forward to fireworks tonight. Here in the Sam Francisco Bay Area, it's pretty cloudy, plus there's a haze over the area from some of the fires East of us, so it may not be the best evening for fireworks. But the haze is actually pretty high in altitude (we can't smell smoke), so it might provide a cool backdrop to the fireworks if the lower clouds burn off. Is there talk of "July 4" in countries far away? Are "my fellow Americans" doing anything in particular to celebrate the day? I may go to a BBQ. Or I may lay low and then go cycling on that high trail that has a good view of much of the Bay Area. We shall see.

Heh heh. Well, it's a sunset shot, so I hope I was facing West. If not, I'm a really confused person.

I wish it were (how does one know when to use "were" v. "was?) warmer here today. I'd be reading at the pool. I reckon I will be this weekend. @Maluse, can you help me with my (sincere) question?

So, what did you do? I stayed home and watched Independence Day and ate a delicious red, white, and blue fruit salad - strawberries, blueberries, and bananas, and made a delicious potato salad. I was also here in the morning. It was a quiet nice day, and I finished up the day watching the Fireworks on TV from the best seat in the house - my recliner. That way, I didn't watch just the ones from Green Bay, but three other cities as well. It was a great display from the three cities, and when it was over, I went to bed.

I am going to hubby's friend's house. This was not something I wanted to do. I wanted to go watch the Macys fireworks and then out to dinner, like we did two years in a row. But he wants to go to his friend's house so I am tagging along.

I wanted to stay home an make a small bbq dinner but I have 2 elders, one 91 years old and one that has a B`day today, age 79, so food will be taken to them. I have to visit my sick sister in the hospital. Plus I really have to mow this knee high grass and let the dogs out to roam for a little.

The dogs will thank you. I just called my best friend, my 95-year-old Auntie in NY, but she was asleep. I think I'll hit Trader Joe's (if they're open) and then soar into the day.

Yes, I'd be more likely to go if there were kids involved. My 9-year-old buddy is in Europe, and most of my friends' kids are at least teenagers now, so it's a chill day for me.

Right back atcha! Do people there generally know it's Independence Day in the US? Americans tend to be clueless about things outside of the US.
