Happy 4th of July Everyone

Today is my mother's 103 birthday. I am going to visit her at the nursing home in a few minutes. We had an impromptu picnic today with our daughter, her husband and their 5 sons. We had a great time in spite of the 93 degree temperatures.
The boys loved playing in the pool. Lots of horsing around went on, from 24 year old Alex to 6 year-old Jack. Even my son in law was on on the antics. They played monkey in the middle with a football. Al and I spent some time in the pool as well and my daughter Kasey too sporting her new bikini bathing suit. She looked great.
We had hamburgers and hotdogs, steak and kabobs, corn on the cob, tomato cucumber and fresh mozzarella salad. Then fresh fruit for dessert, ice cream and cream puffs. Nobody went home hungry.
Now we are chilling out in the air-conditioned family room. I am not anxious to go back out but I have to go see mommy.

Thank you, it was not the best visit today, she didn't really seem to know it was me but she was content so that is good.

Thank yes 103 is a great age and she is very healthy still. It was not a great visit she didn't really respond to me at all but she seemed happy enough.

We had a wonderful 4th, the best in years. My mom however on her birthday was not as alert as I would have preferred. She didn't smile at me.

She is 45 almost 46 and she looks awesome, everybody tells her she looks amazing for someone who has 5 children which makes her laugh, so if I only had 3 kids I would look like sheet!! lol

@BelleStarr My sister has five sons too. We had two sons. Mum had to wait ages for a girl but eventually a grand-daughter came along.

Thank you, it wasn't the best visit, she didn't smile when she saw me and didn't maintain eye contact. But she seemed contented and that is all I can ask.

Happy 103rd birthday to your mom. Unfortunately, my 4th of July is staying home. I was injured in a car accident, so my boyfriend and I are both staying home. How I wish I could celebrate this day with my favorite people.
