Have you ever seen an alarmed gate? This one is in Echuca. We didn’t go through it but later when we followed a guide around the town she took us all through the gate from the other way. I don’t think it was alarmed at all. It seemed perfectly at ease to me. It didn’t even squeak at us.
Tomorrow we move on to Swan Hill which is another town on the Murray River in Victoria. It has featured in the paddle-steaming life of Australia too.

I think it might be a big con - just a trick and they're hoping people won't test it out.

I remember my uncle's house whose gate stated "BEWARE OF DOGS" when my uncle don't have a dog at all. HA HA

I don't think I have seen one, usually they don't tell you because they want to catch you red handed. Its like those signs that say "beware of the Dog" when there is only a kitty cat in the home.

@Freelanzer It's very clever isn't it? Must be some dog!! Probably it's a little kitten.

Can't say that I've ever seen an alarm on a gate before.

@JudyEv Haha that's funny! But I was wondering, what is it that they are trying to keep people from escaping from? Is it so bad inside the gate that people want to go running out?

@JudyEv Maybe they want to make sure they account for every single person who enters the wharf area, to ensure that nobody goes missing and is presumably drowned. Otherwise, I can't think of any other good reason.

There are doors like that in some businesses here. If you try to use them to exit they sound an alarm.

@JudyEv Yes, that is funny, it doesn't look alarmed.

It is like putting a board 'beware of dog' when in fact there is no dog (lol)

It maybe has a buzzer inside somewhere so they know when it is opened to keep people from sneaking around. The guide would be expected to go through so alarm off

It would get very tired if it were in a state of perpetual 'alarmedness'.

Normally it would mean a gate with an alarm. I just thought it was a funny way to put it.
