We Also Celebrated The 4th of July

Yes, we aso celebrated last night, the 4th of July but not with the intention of celebrating the 4th of July by the Americans. Though I would like to greet all Americans for their 4th of July celebration. The dinner was hosted by our batch’s president in their residence. It was in honor of 2 of our batchmates who arrived from Australia and US for a vacation. She also would like to share with us the gifts of our 2 batchmates living in Canada whom she visited in addition, to attending the wedding of her husband’s niece when she went to Canada just a few days ago for 3 weeks, so she hosted the dinner. It was a well-attended dinner. We were 24 in all. Usually, only 7 or 8 would attend a lunch or dinner gathering in a restaurant. Well, maybe some don’t come because they thought, they will be asked to share in the bill. Once again, we all had a blast! What about your 4th of July, how did you spend it?

It was an ordinary day for me, but let us not forget that July 4th is Philippine-American friendship day, we must also remember that July 4th was our former Independence day given to us by the Americans until we changed it to June 12, 1898 to coincide with the first Philippine Republic. I'm glad that you and your batchmates had a good time with a lot of attendees

Yes, we should not forget this day July 4, as it is the Philippine-American friendship day. But it seems this day isn't even minded by the government now. We always have a good time, whenever we gather. But this time, we were many, 24 in all when it's always in the maximum of 8 whenever we have dinners in the restaurant. Maybe the others don't like to chip into the bill.

@louievill Yes, that is true. But our president always invites those not fortunate ones. When billing time comes, she gives a big share and so are the other doctors. At least, they know how to share their blessings.

Yes, my dear. Usually, when one arrives for a vacation, she would inform our president that she would like all of us to gather. Sometimes, we chip in for the bill. Sometimes, the one who arrived pays for all of it and she has pasalubong for each of us. At those times, there would be 8 at the maximum attendees. But this one was so well attended so I was surprised as they keep arriving that night. They have pasalubongs for everyone too. We also danced after dinner, to the tunes of our music from our time like the VST song Swing and the like. It was so much fun really! I love every gathering of ours.

Thank you! Our 4th of July went as planned except that our friends drove their car. It was too hot to each take our convertibles. I’m so happy you had another big celebration with your old friends. It was so nice that she treated everyone! Wow!

That's wonderful that your plan with friends for July 4th went as planned. She's our batchmate's president. She wanted to relinquish being that because of health reason and another reason for that party is for us to choose who the next president is. We chose another doctor but still single. Gatherings like this really make me so happy.

Indeed it was really so much fun, as always, whenever we all gather. AT our age, every time we gather is an opportunity to have fun. We even dance to the tune of the music of our time after dinner. Oh, how we laughed as we danced. So, you eat out with your friends?

That's understandable, because you are not an American. As for us, it was a coincidence that the gathering was made on the 4th of July. Oh yes, we had so much fun, especially that the two who came from abroad, have tokens for everyone. Then, one batchmate suggested that we belly dance on our suggested batchmate reunion when we will all turn 60 two years from now. Of course, we will not belly dance at our senior age.
