Make me Catchy

Says the Title. Why ? ask I. So that they read me,says the Discussion. Oh, says I. My mind then wanders off to random book titles and lines , song lyrics, idioms and phrases from school days, till I get the one I want for my discussion. I take a suitable line, sometimes tweak it a bit and there it is my,catchy title. How do you choose the title of your discussions?

I try to come up with something a bit catchy. I'm sure it makes a difference. A dull title hardly gets any views.

@responsiveme It's really strange. I wrote about the old washing machine and have received dozens of comments yet I can write about something I think is fascinating and no-one is the least bit interested! Maybe I have funny tastes!

@JudyEv that is true. You never know what catches the imagination. But on the whole yours are about places you visit and things you see there and very popular. I like them

I don't really. I use any heading which is the shortest, the most concise to express what I wanted to say with as little misleading as possible. HOWEVER, a few times I changed the content at the last minute, but forgot to change the heading , so the content ended up having nothing with the heading. Blame my age for that!

@responsiveme I often sneaked back afterwards (when I suddenly realized what I had done) to modify the content somehow, give it some sort of link to the heading.

Your earnings are not based on views and so no point in having attrative titles if the contents are poor

The Discussion wasn't thinking of the earnings, only wanted a view..That's why took help from the Title

Well, you did find a 'catchy' title, after all! I usually write my title and then think about how to word my discussion so they support each other.

I always feel at a loss when choosing a catchy title. I never seem to hit the mark. Some people here have a knack for a great title post.

Songs and book titles and famous lines are my go to places for titles

I used to write on a British site (now defunct) where I got the nickname 'Queen of Alliteration'. I had hundreds of two-word alliterative titles. I was very proud of them especially as English is not my native language. I don't use them any more because there are too many members here who wouldn't understand them and the implied allusions. It would be 'casting pearls before swine' (a quotation from the Bible).

I understand that you do have a good hold of the English Language I think you teach it too, if I am not mistaken. I got the phrase, am a bookworm, you see.

I do use catchy titles for my article posts, but usually use the movie or book title as a title.

I first write my discussion and then I try to add a title that make sense with what I wrote. A catchy title is fine, I dislike misleading titles.
