the children are naked and water is everywhere

That's an eye catching title, isn't it? Okay, it's not 100% accurate. Only one child is naked, and he's two. We also have a fenced in yard, so he isn't exposed. It's 93°F outside, but some of the kids really wanted to play in the backyard. I gave them buckets of water and sponges and sent them out there. They've been having a ball throwing sponges and dumping water over each other's heads. I'm sure I'll have a mess to clean up later, but right now they're keeping cool and out of my hair. How have you been beating the heat? I'm about to make some more iced tea. Photo isn't mine, so I have no idea whose child the model is. I found it via Google.

My first time in the tropics. Just relocated to Daytona Beach, Florida. For now, I stay inside by my laptop but I do go out to get used to my surroundings. I would like to have water dumped on me when I am outside.

That's a big change from where you were before! I'm sure you'll acclimate eventually, but the humidity has got to be brutal right now.

It was actually cooler today but humid as hell because it rained and stormed all day. It is currently 80 degrees and thundering.

@spiderdust I couldn't live in a fire zone. . . or a tornado zone. I'll take hurricanes any day. And NJ rarely gets those although Sandy was a b!tch.

@NJChicaa Yeah, I flew to NYC a couple of weeks after Sandy... people were still recovering from it.

That sounds both wonderful to me and horrible. We only get rain during the winter, so summers are so hot and dry, and everything catches fire.

Sounds like our house. The twins are enjoying their kiddie pool. Little Keith is going to his friend's house on a daily basis that has a large pool. I wish I had a pool!

@spiderdust The only ones I have seen left are the really small ones for toddlers. Every year I keep telling myself that I am going to save some money from our taxes and buy a decent size pool at Walmart when they go on sale. I have yet to do that.

I really need to replace our kiddie pool and should have done that before Memorial Day. I might have to find one on Amazon now because I don't think there are any left in the stores.

@Shellyann36 I would happily settle for a toddler pool.

True! I remember to take and put on sunblock when we go to the water park, but I'll admit that I forgot to put it on them just now!

@spiderdust I am dark skinned, but still I have had 3 skin cancers taken off, all due to sun. Blondes do worse.

Water battles! Always fun in the summer! We'll be playing with water for my best friend's son's birthday party. I hope the kiddies had a great time! :) We have the a/c in, otherwise I drink water, sit in front of the fan and/or take a cool shower.

@spiderdust I'm sure you'll get it replaced before you know it. The important thing is they had fun.

They had a great time! I really need to replace the wading pool so they can have more water fun outside.

Sounds like a fun day for them, its so easy to entertain them with the simplest of toys isn't it?

That is a catchy title. When I am too hot or too sticky I jump in the shower for a bit. I find today it is cooler outside than inside, though.

I shower when it's really hot too. I let the heat dry my hair.

I miss being a kid and playing in the water during the summer. I was just asking my sister the other day "Was summer always this hot, or did we just not notice because we were playing in the water when we were kids?" I beat the heat these days by staying inside where there's AC. And if I have to go somewhere where there's no AC, I wear shorts...which I haven't done in years. Normally I refuse to wear shorts (they always make me feel uncomfortable) but it's too hot this year to wear pants.

I think it's both -- the summers weren't as hot, and we were also keeping cool by playing in the water. There are some nice loose lightweight pants that you could wear when it's hot but shorts feel uncomfortable.

Oh my gosh, that sounds like so much fun. I loved playing with the sprinkler as a kid. These days...I just sit in my room with my Window cooler and i'm happy haha

I do have the AC turned on in the house, but it's not set very low. I'm trying to keep it around 78°F inside.

I often made a bath for the kids to jump in and out during very hot days. (also to keep inside of our house from being too dry.)

as long as they are not directly under the sun, it is okay.
