What Makes You Stay in Your Job?

Most of the reasons I heard are, a not so good boss and low salary. But now, it's a different story. A month of "JUNE" was like a horror moment in the office when a lot of employees resigned, promoted, and assigned to other business units. A lot of changes in our organization charts. Most of my closest officemates/friends reasons of quitting their jobs is "boredom" The unexplained boredom with their task or position. A feeling of reaching the point of plateau in their career. Change is what they need, a more complex task or corporate responsibility where they can maximize their potentials. Their problem is not about " money' anymore but in my opinion its a non-stop affirmation of "self worth" . This is the challenging task of the company on how to keep those people. More trainings? promotions? more unique projects? or maybe adopt a new working styles? What makes you stay in your job?

When I started my Call center career and was moved out as a Customer Rep. to Technical Support, I thought of resigning because I know I'm not a technical person. But when I meet my new Teammates and my Team Leader, I change my mind will stay for a year, until that year moves to 5 years. What makes me stay is the friendship and the comfortable place of work. What makes me leave the company for 5 years is the new Management. They only care about those people who are close to their heart, not those who work hard.

Our office conducted a survey, it's a GALLUP survey, to know the employee's attitudes and behaviors towards their work. The survey got " friendship at work" as the highest and engagement in company's initiatives as the lowest. So, it true that one of the reasons why employees stay longer in the company is because of the friendship.

@JustBhem The sad truth is when the company fails to recognize people behind their success. Seldom has the culture of keeping people. For some business is business and everyone is dispensable.

@cttolledo Yeah, stayed there for 5 years because of the friendship I already build with my teammates and other agents. Then when some of my friends want to have a greener pasture, I was the one who left behind because I want to try one more time if it's worth staying. Sad to boot, the floor gets darker and that's when I left the company.

The pay cheque is the main thing that keeps me at my job. Then, most days I enjoy it. It's flexible; I don't have to work every day.

Enough reason to stay in the job especially when it helps you to achieve your goal in life.

Times have changed indeed. Before, when one gets employed, it's a lifetime relationship with the employer. They part ways only upon retirement. Nowadays, it's so easy and common to "jump ship".
