The Serious Dilemma of Bad Breath In Others You Are Speaking With

How do you tactfully deal with someone with serious bad breath? Do you tell them in a kind way so as not to embarrass them? Do you pull them aside to let them know their breath is offensive? Or does your displeasure show in your facial expressions and words that a friend, relative or spouse has terrible bad breath? Are there ways to give persons with bad breath a hint to let them know their bad breath can be smelled by those around them?

Bad breath is caused not only because of unhygienic reasons pertaing to oral cavity, but they can be because of Gingivitis, Pneumonia, bronchitis, Sinusitis, Diabetes, In-digestive gastric reflux etc. Since these.conditions are serious , I would just suggest to get a check up by a doctor to rule out these things.Which will give the person a hint and he/she will get her health check up to ensure that everything is fine or not! Thanks!

Thank you very much for sharing the many causes of bad breath @AKRao24. There is one more that can be added to your list and it's called TRIMETHYLAMINURIA. This debilitating disorder causes a person's breath and body to smell like poop, garbage, rotten fish and anything in between, despite them being meticulous and regular in their oral and physical hygiene. It's a terrible metabolic disorder to have. And the sad part about it is that the one that has this horrific disorder can't even smell themselves, but others can smell them.

walk away, stand back, give them gum or mint. but also don't be rude and judge them by it as there are many reasons why they could have it.

Yes I agree that it is a good thing not to judge a person or be rude to them if they have bad breath. And also as you've stated, there could be many reasons why people have bad breath.

I will offer that person strong mint gum and suggest them to have daily mint leaves

The fresh mint leaves sounds like a great idea @Icydoll. Thank you for offering this thread a great answer. I guess they can either brew the mint leaves to drink as tea, chew on them, add the mint leaves to a salad along with some fresh parsley as well. Fresh mint leaves can be added to stews and soups too. I was thinking even a smoothie with fresh mint leaves would help with one's bad breath.

I will offer them a piece of gum. Usually a strong mint flavored gum. If they refuse it I'll pressure them..."I REALLY think you should take it." (Wink wink, nudge nudge)

Yes that's what I normally do. I not only offer them a piece of gum or a mint but take a piece out for myself as well.
