Yes! It's about time that I worked this one into Play it Again, Sam! We are at #7b, the "cover" portion of today's edition: the Revolting Cocks' cover of Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" Revolting Cocks (known as "RevCo" for radio purposes. Yes, this did get played on the radio!) is an industrial rock supergroup started by Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen, Front 242 vocalist Richard 23, and Luc van Acker. The band has, at times, included industrial legends such as Paul Barker (Ministry,) Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails,) Skinny Puppy vocalist Nivek Ogre, and Chris Connelly. From their classic (in industrial circles, anyway) 1993 album, Linger Fickin' Good... and other barnyard oddities, "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" features the vocal talents of Chris Connelly (my favorite industrial vocalist. I absolutely love his sing-speak, deadpan style,) with Jourgensen performing the song's chorus. The cover was made totally tongue in cheek (Connelly makes it so,) with a bit of a tweak in the original lyrics. Whereas Stewart's hero asks for money to call his mother, Connelly bums cash from his one night stand so that he can "buy a rubber." And instead of appologizing for running out of milk and coffee, Connelly begs forgiveness for being "out of K-Y Jelly." Not a big hit, although the video made it into rotation on MTV, and the the single did receive play on alternative radio, but a fun little cover nonetheless. (Info verified by Wikipedia)

Most definitely. When we were at the Reading Festival in England, my buddy was wearing a Revolting Cocks shirt one day. British dude offered him 10 Quid for it! I was wearing a red Soviet Union flag shirt. Lots of people liked it, but nobody offered to buy it.

I wonder why. I figured KROQ would have played it. KTCL, the alternative station out of Fort Collins, was all over it. Weird.
