Rescue Attempt for Thai Soccer Team Boys

Reporters are saying that it appears divers are going to attempt to rescue the soccer team which is trapped in a cave in Thailand. Elon Musk has sent a team of engineers to try to help them, but it may be too late for his equipment to be of much use. Instead, professional divers are going to try to buddy up one-on-one with the boys and lead them through the treacherous waters, even though the boys are only now learning how to swim and use scuba equipment. I hope that by the time most of you read this, the boys will be out safely. Whatever your religion, I hope you will join the Buddhist monks who are outside the cave, praying for the safety of these trapped boys. The photo above is of an Israeli dive team which has been flown from Israel to help the other rescuers at the cave. They are just one group of divers who have arrived from all over the world. This will be a very dangerous, risky rescue, and all most of us can do is wait and watch.

@sallypup - You make a good point. I wonder if they will have nightmares in the future about this experience.

@DeborahDiane I often have water dreams- somehow I've gotten on the wrong side and have to get to some other place. I wake feeling anxious.

@sallypup - I think that is not an unusual thing to dream. I'm sure these boys will have dreams like that for the rest of their lives. They may need therapy in order to get a good night's rest.

I can understand what they are going through. I remember when we had 33 miners trapped in a mine for so many days. Their coming out alive was a miracle.

@marguicha - I remember that mining miracle in Chile. The whole world was watching breathlessly until they were rescued. I hope they get these boys out safely, too.

Two kids are out and two others are nearing the exit. There are two divers for every kid.

@DeborahDiane I can imagine how hard it is, not only because it's a very difficult way that takes hours, but they have to take care of the kids, who do not even know how to swim. I wonder how their coach had that silly idea to visit the cave knowing that it's monsoon season.

@DeborahDiane I have read that they have to wait several hours now before going back and rescue more.

@LadyDuck - I have heard the same thing. It must be exhausting for the rescuers. One said that it was the equivalent of climbing Mt. Everest, although I think that might be a little bit of an exaggeration. However, slogging through cold water for hours has to be very hard on them.

@just4him - As I write this, they said that the first four have been rescued. That is such a relief and makes it more hopeful that the other boys will get out safely, too. We all need to keep praying that the rain holds off and nothing goes wrong.

@just4him - It may be a couple of more days before we know for sure that they all got out safely. Then, they have to be checked for lung infections which can develop when you are in a cave too long. Plus, they could have nightmares and other signs of PTSD. What a terrifying experience they have been through!

@DeborahDiane I'm glad they are starting to come out of there. That's very good news. I agree, prayer needed for no rain and nothing more to go wrong.

just read 4 have been rescued. Yesterday one tv channel here showed us the path they will have to follow. It seemed difficult and complicated. Hope all will get through.

@DeborahDiane If you look at the diagram of the route you will know it is a trapeze act all have to perform there.
I did not know it was a complicated route to get those 12 boys out from that cave in Thailand. They have been there since about 2 weeks. I do not know how and...

@allknowing - I agree. The more I read about how complicated the route is and how far back in the cave the boys are, the more I realize that it is a miracle that they were found at all!

It is very risky and danger with no guarantee of success. Not only that more than 1 life could be lose without achieving any success.

@DeborahDiane I am glad they are all out now! I know someone with life long lung damage due to a fungus? not sure what that infected his lungs. He was a lumberjack (don't know if that is the real term) and it is something from the forest. He has spent the last 12 years or so on oxygen. No cure. I am guessing, they could have breathed in something that causes a similar type of damage. Sounds like the coach should have known better than to go into those caves during the rainy season.

Four boys have been rescued. I have been following this relentless effort by the world community. What a relief from the pointing of fingers otherwise. Thanks to the brave rescue efforts with one sacrificing his life in the process. A link below to the first contact with the trapped boys - siva
