On Saturday the 8th I went to my local Dollar General for a nice sale on laundry supplies and a few other items. I like to coupon and I have been doing it for several years. My cheap coupon stockpiles have seen us through some hard times in the past. These were the deals that I got while shopping and the money I saved. Gain Products Liquid Fabric Softner 48 load bottle Sale Price $3.95 - $2.00 Coupon= $1.95 Liquid Laundry Detergent 40 oz. Sale Price $3.95 - $2.00 Coupon= $1.95 Fabric Softner Sheets 105 count Sale price $3.95- $2.00 Coupon = $1.95 Fireworks 6.5 oz Sale Price $3.95 - $2.00 Coupon = $1.95 Other Downy Unstoppable Beads 6.5 oz Sale Price $4.50 -$2.00 Coupon = $2.50 (2) Herbal Essences Shampoo 10.1 oz Sale 2 @$3 each- $2 Coupon= $4 Dove Deodorant (small travel size) $1.25 - $1.00 Coupon = 25 cents Total Sales Price (Not including Taxes) = $ 27.55 Total Manufacturer Coupons = $13.00 Dollar General $5 off $25 coupon Total Coupons = $18.00 $27.55- $18.00 = $9.55 $9.55 / by 8 Items = $1.20 Average Price for each Item. Not bad for savings over the weekend! I always wait for Saturday to do stock up shops at Dollar General because that is when the $5 off $25 coupon works. I would have made another $5 off instantly at the register if I had purchased one more Proctor and Gamble product to total $15 worth of Proctor and Gamble Products before coupons. I was only 70 cents shy of that $15 total and when I realized that in the car I was very disappointed in myself. However, I was not disappointed enough to go back in and have them re-ring it all. Do you coupon? Have you had any good deals lately? ** I forgot to mention that all of the coupons were digital coupons that I found online at the Dollar General website. **

I think that must be an American thing, we don't have many here. There are very occasional offers in the newspapers.

Exactly what I was saying, we do not have coupons in Europe. The local grocery stores send a weekly newsletter to announce the discounted items.

@Shellyann36 They still do here and I appreciate, because if there is nothing interesting I do not waste my time going there.

Grocery stores here do not give away coupons, but we have a fidelity card and we have weekly discounts on listed items.

You did extremely well! I used to be a coupon queen when the kids were young, but don’t bother anymore.

I don't coupon. Usually there is nothing I use that is on a coupon, so I don't bother. It would be nice if the things I use would have a coupon for them. However, I'm not going to buy something I don't use, just to get a savings. That's not a savings, but a waste of money.

@just4him There are not many food item coupons that I use but household cleaning/laundry and personal care items I like to rock my coupons.

@just4him It really is for our family. The kids play so rough and get so many stains on their clothes and most of the generic supplies don't really put a dent in them. I normally wash 2 loads of clothes per day here.

@Shellyann36 Those are usually expensive items, so getting a good discount on them is worth it.

@Courtlynn It helps us get the things we need. Without the coupons, we would be hard-pressed to buy the name brand things we use here at home.

Anywhere and any way you can save money is always a good thing, and it seems like you are accomplishing that. Congrats to you, and onward and upward. Hopefully you will also have a good month on MyLot. Keeping my fingers crossed.

@porwest thank you very much. So far so good. July seems to be a decent month for me. I have cashed out at Swagbucks, InboxDollars, myLot and thinking about cashing out at MyPoints and YouGov.

i used to do it all the time. my daughter does all the shopping for us now and she don't remember to carry them or use them if she does. problem is she is a sucker for bogo though, buy one get one, and i tell her that is uaually for 2 reasons, the stuff is about to expire soon and they raise the original price on the buy one also to make up most on the get one

@bunnybon7 My sister is the same way. I have tried several times to set her up a coupon caddy and I have helped her clip the coupons. She leaves it at home every time.

@Marilynda1225 Thank you. I got disappointed last year when P&G and Redplum stopped sending us coupons weekly in the mail. I use mostly digital now.
