Katmandu Commuter Hell A few hours ago, I found those pictures online showing how bad the commuting is in Katmandu. I can't believe that people have to travel in such conditions. And here, we complain when the bus or subway is late only for a few minutes. Or that we have to wait for the streetcar because of a small delay due to traffic. Are we ever spoiled here in North America? At least where we live in Toronto, Canada? Do you have an easy way to get to your work in the morning?
As the government ploughs on with its controversial road expansion scheme, commuting in Nepal’s capital can take up to four hours – while many joke that the dust mask has become part of national dress

FOUR HOURS to get anywhere by bus?!!! Yes, we're spoiled. I thought it was bad with our transit system.

Remember that there are countries having the worst transport system. This is something that I would never want to experience.

@dya80dya, Even if you don't work, don't you sometimes have to go shopping or for doc's appointments?

We have a great Transit system here in minneapolis. Which I take for granted as I drie to work every day. I just love the freedom of driving though.

There is always a balance in that those who have to go through such hardships also accept them and when something is accepted it becomes cake walk

Nepal is surely not the best place where to live if you need to use public transports. The roads are a mess there.

@LadyDuck I have been following Haiti news a lot in the last few decades and it is unbelievable that they keep having problems after problems. Do you know Dr. Paul Farmer? He is my hero and does a lot for Haiti

MARILYN @Marilynda1225, I complained a lot when the workers did some work on my street for new cables underground. They had to dig and we had so much dust. Thanks that they are finally done, but unfortunately, in Kathmandu, they live with this DAILY.

I am not working at the moment, but when I ride Ecat I have to do my riding and errands during the week and it still take a while, but aturday it is almost impossible to get anywhere a most ot the connections don't meet with the routes running only every other hour and you may have a long wait if the bus you want to connect to is on the same every other hour schedule as yours

Thank goodness I don't work. Wow! When I did, my last school was 16 minutes from my house. My husband bought me an SUV due to the hills and valleys. Snow and ice could have been my big problem.
