More than we expected

As we expected, the doctor feels that Bob is having side effects from medications. Besides bleeding in ways he should not, he has no appetite, sleeps a lot, and his stomach hurts. He feels weak and dizzy. Not only did the doctor have him quit the blood thinner, he also had him quit a heart medication. He also wants him to stop all vitamins and supplements to see if his appetite comes back. He had already skipped the blood thinner. He does not take it on Sunday and he did not take it today. He already had skipped a supplement. Today was a regular physical, yearly. He did lab and had x rays and an ekg, etc. After that we went to work on straightening out the bill in yet another city. Not a lot of luck there, but we did get some data that we need to turn in to VA to work on getting him benefits there. I also got to see a friend who works full time in the radiology office. While we were there Bob got a windshield call. We just got back from finding the place. Tomorrow I get another tooth pulled. Goodnight friends. I feel very relaxed and relieved.

Sometimes vitamins and supplements can have a reaction with prescription medications. I hope that they get it all figured out and that he'll be feeling better soon. I had a friend who was telling me about his tooth being pulled and how much discomfort he was in because of it. I got approved for textbroker, they gave me three stars. I suppose I need fill in this w-9 and send it off and see if I can figure out this article writing business.

Doc just felt the vitamins were maybe killing his appetitie, but I had wanted him off a couple of the meds for years. I am 3 stars on Textbroker. It can be okay, but it is not my favorite. I put my articles into Word when done and have the spelling and grammar checked.

@GardenGerty I was wondering if I should do that myself, posting it in word to double check my errors. Hopefully his appetite will return.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes, I actually use cut, remove it from TB and paste into word. I do spelling and grammar checks then copy and paste it back in. I cut it out completely so that I do not make the mistake of leaving part of the unedited one in.

Blood thinners are tricky, I remember that my brother told me that he had to change the dosage that my mom had to get because of the risk of bleeding.

There are so many NEW and very expensive ones and they do not even have antidotes. Hubby had been on one of the oldest, but he has always bled easily anyway. His blood tests monthly have been okay, but doc says that he is just gonna need to quit taking it. My sister was on one of the newer kinds and kept teller her doctor she bled too easily. He did not believe her until she showed up at an appointment with a small cut that would not stop bleeding. Those things are dangerous.

@LadyDuck Hubby will take a small aspirin daily to maintain the thinned blood. They will monitor him well. He was already on half of the smallest warfarin only six days a week.

@GardenGerty I agree that those things are dangerous and stopping them could also be dangerous.

Prescription medicines as well as supplements can cause some serious problems. It sounds as if the doctor is on the right track and I hope this solves his problems.

I hope he starts to feel better. Medications and vitamins sometimes don't mix well.

He has taken vitamins for years. It isn't that they do not mix well, but may be too much for his stomach right now.

Last March my daughter commented that including caring for her dad when he was ill I have spent the last twenty plus years caring for sick and dying people, mostly family. I often feel like I have misplaced part of my life.

@GardenGerty I'm sorry to hear that. It's not fair to you to have to put your life aside to focus on caring for others.

This seems to be a positive change. He will go back to the doctor in two weeks to see. He feels much better. All four of his prescriptions had a side effect of tiredness and dizzyness. His blood pressure is quite low, but they have him on meds for blood pressure any way. Several of them had potential for stomach pain. The doctor says that the radiation treatment he had has weakened the blood vessels in that area and then the blood thinners are making him bleed easily there.
