We called these categories Hatches, Matches and Dispatches They were announcements about births, weddings and deaths That is what we gleaned through papers early in the morning. I am not sure if they still exist as we never got those newspapers here where we have shifted. Where do you get such news?

Actually, I have not read a newspaper in a very long time. I usually catch up with some latest news online.

Is there an online space where you get to read about these matters pertaining to the area where you live?

@allknowing I am a native New Yorker and used to reading the New York news. I guess now I will have to get a subscription to a Florida paper.

@allknowing I have never tried to find if our suburb has online news. I do believe there still is a town newspaper, but haven't looked at one of those for a long time.

We've subscribed to a local (daily) and a national (weekend only) newspaper. I wouldn't want to live without them.

@allknowing Once a month births and deaths are announced officially. Every day, obituaries composed by family members of the deceased are printed.
