Wildflowers from Sunday July 8 2018

I took a hike with a couple of friends this past Sunday. It was dry out there, but there were some wildflowers out. I took a picture of these, though I don't know what they're called. Any ideas? I want to get back to Mt. Diablo, where I'm sure the Indian Paintbrush are out (this hike was in Tilden Park, closer to the Bay). The Indian Warrior are probably gone by now. I have pictures of those if you want to see them. People who've know me awhile probably already have. What are your favorite ways to get out into nature? For me, it's either cycling or hiking.

This is a "pink sweet pea" flower , we have them in the south of Italy. I do not like cycling, but I like hiking.

Pink sweet pea. I wonder if they call it the same here. Will there be peas?

@TheHorse Yes, they call the same in your country and they do not become peas, they are decorative flowers. I also planted them in my garden to mask the compost bin.

@LadyDuck So the grow happily around the compost bin? I wonder what makes them do well in the dry Berkeley Hills.

Gathering. I will look for plants that are used in natural medicine, especially for wounds. I look for mushrooms, although I only know a couple that are edible so I probably pass more that are. I gather flowers to make jelly. Some hunt meat I hunt plants.

I stay away from mushrooms. But Indian Warrior is supposed to be a natural sedative. Check it out!

@TheHorse No I don't always take the pics of things I see. Though I bring my phone with me, I rarely take pictures.

@TheHorse I have written extensively about poison oak. The local police asked to use my HubPages article on their website for their search and rescue teams.

I don't know what kind of beautiful flowers they are. Lovely flowers! I'm an indoor person. I watch nature programs and bus, so I hike to my stores. As I walk to my destination I'm a bird watcher, so I enjoy seeing the birds flying about. You might ask your local Botanical Garden people with the picture. I have a post about a heart shaped leaves, that I couldn't find about it. I emailed them with my picture. They emailed me back about it the very next day. Good luck!

Anna said they are Pink Sweet Pea. I'll have to do a bit more research to confirm that that's what the locals call them.

My favorite way to get into nature is to take a photo walk. I usually walk by the river (wet or dry), through a vineyard, or at the beach.

@TheHorse That's good. Photo ops come when you least expect them.

Sounds good to me. I've been bringing my camera to work with the kids almost every day just in case a "photo op" occurs.
