Rescued three kittens or my neighbor?

My neighbor came and asked for help from my eldest son as there were three kittens in her front yard, and the kittens have been disturbing her. She is quite afraid of touching the kittens, hence she asked if my son can help her to take away the kittens. Of course my kids were very happy to help and bring the kittens back to our yard. The kids were busy feeding the kittens, setting up the "houses" for them, and even made a "playground" for them. Since there are three kittens, each kid can take care of one kitten. Even my toddler is happily carrying the kitten around. The kids really enjoyed taking care of the kittens, and gave them names based on their fur color. I hope the kittens will stay and the kids will always have fun taking care of them. Do you like cats?

You have adopted 3 more kids . I "like" cats, but I guess I'm more of a dog person. I suppose it is because of the allergies I had with cats in my childhood - and now my kids are allergic too. We don't have cats here, but there are plenty of neighborhood cats we can say hi too .

Not me, my kids adopted the kittens, and I told them I won't be taking care of the kittens, but it's their responsibility if they want to keep the kittens. (evil mom's here) I am glad they really take care of everything on their own, including cleaning the kittens' poops. Though I might need to guide them in doing something, it's good as it's an opportunity for them to learn. I prefer dogs too, and my kids keep asking us to get a dog, but I really can't afford to take care of a dog now. The kittens that my kids have been taking care of always just ran away after some time as we kept them in the front yard but not inside the house, but if we are going to take care of a dog, I think the dog will always stay with us and we have greater responsibility. So you and your kids can't get near to any cats or can't touch them?

@kaka135 You are actually a good mom for having the kids take responsibility for "their" pets - I think it's a good lesson too! Yes, along with the cute pets comes the not-so-cute poops - but that is part of the deal. Dogs have different kinds of needs from cats besides the basic ones - we'd love one too if we could! Well, I can be around cats - I just know never to get my hands near my face (which is harder for a child ton control, I guess). For me my eyes would be most affected (severe itching). My daughter has eczema, so she will get wildly itchy but especially worse on the eczema areas. My son doesn't get as itchy - his is more of a delayed reaction. So it's lots of hand washing, changing clothes, and showering when we get home from visiting someone with a cat. We just make it a point to not touch cats if possible (but sometimes they come unexpectedly to rub against you).

@much2say Yes, sometimes it's too irresistible to touch the cute and small animals, especially for kids. I also always remind my kids to wash their hands and not to touch their face after touching the cats or any animals, just in case they might have any irritating reactions. So do you have dogs at home? I am actually a lazy mom, hence I would like my kids to take responsibility to take care of the home and also any "pets" if they want to. Before we actually get a dog, they have been keeping the small animals they found in the garden, such as caterpillar, grasshopper, and even gecko.

I am a cat lover. I can't understand why some people will be afraid of cats, especially kittens. They are just adorable and not dangerous animals at all.

I have no idea about that too. I am more afraid of stray dogs as I am afraid the dogs might bite me, but cats usually won't scratch us. I have a high school friend who was really afraid of cats, she couldn't even look at the picture of cats, and she couldn't tell why too.

@youless I am not sure about other countries, but here some dogs are really fierce, and some just chase and even bite people without any reasons. That's why I am quite scared of dogs, especially those I am not familiar with and look fierce ones.

@kaka135 I think cats are less dangerous than dogs. Sometimes big dogs are already horrible to look at

That's good. It looks like my neighbors or friends prefer dogs to cats. Most cats I see are stray cats here. Thanks. I think kids always like to help out, especially something they like to do.

I don't mind them but I can't have as my husband is allergic. But they love my yard, they are always in it and I know they belong to others in the neighbourhood. Cats love to roam and it is hard to keep them at home.

I don't know much about cats, but it seems like every time we keep a kitten in the yard, they ran away after some time. They aren't like dogs that will always come home, right? There are many stray cats that belong to nobody in my neighborhood, and that's why we always see kittens around, but I have no idea where all the kittens went after some time.

We are not sure, but we think they belong to a stray cat. We have always seen the cat around in our neighborhood.

Yes, I like cats but do remember that the fluffy adorable kitten grows up to be a cat But, each child now has a pet to take care of. Guess who will be taking care of them when the novelty wears off and the kids want to do other things.

I love cats, but I don't wish to have any because of allergy issues. You have a good heart for being kind to animals. It's a good trait to have during this digital age where there are still animal abusers mercilessly doing cruel things to the furry species and the likes, and make it seem normal.

very nice of your kids to help the neighbor. and nice of you for letting them! i would be suspicious maybe the kittens have a disease or whatever (overprotected). don't worry. the kittens are here to stay. once they see they gonna have food and some new friends to play with they won't leave you. personally, i don't like cats too much. i think in the end they don't really care for you as much as dogs do. i have a dog that will sit infront of the door all day waiting for me. if i had a cat i bet he wouldn't care so much where i am as long there is enough food ion the plate ^_^
