Mystery man on the phone

I thought I would share this little story with you all. It happened some time back but I have hesitated writing it out, because I have the suspicion that it is way more entertaining for me... but.... it's still on my mind to write about so here goes. 
Awhile back I got a notice that I must participate in the US. Census. There is no fee to this, and it's not a bad thing by any means - it's just the first time in my life I've gotten asked to participate.
Census, for those who didn't know about it - is just a way that the US. Government gathers statistics.
So, the letter told me that I must go to a website, enter a code, and take the census. Time came, I had a little extra time - so I decided to do the census. I went to the website, and low and behold I couldn't proceed. The website was asking for a code that had been printed on the outside of the envelope that the letter was mailed in. Go figure. I didn't have the envelope anymore.
So I called the number. I got a nice sounding man on the line. Great. Exactly who I want to discuss my health insurance, living arrangements, bills, etc ... but that is who I got ahold of.
And during the time he asked me the questions we talked about life, about family, about goals, and about hopes. And even about romance a bit. 
He was located in Arizona and we both talked about wanting to see the Grand Canyon.
Of course the call ended eventually , and I will probably never interact with the man again - but who knows, maybe one day we will end up at the Grand Canyon together. (Like a movie!)

I have not faced any such encounter. Your narration tells that you also enjoyed talking to him and probably you were free and passing your time.

@dpk262006 Ha ha - indeed it made me wonder. We did just seem to hit it off... would we do the typical date things? Have fun together? Would we fall apart for one reason or another after a few dates? Or would we go on and be happy together. It makes me ponder...

Something like this hasn't happened to me but the brother of a friend of mine married a woman from the telephone centre. He had fallen in love with her voice and had asked her out. This was many years ago when you had to call the centre to be connected with a number manually.

Oh wow! I have heard of that - where you had to be manually connected , my grandma used to do that. That's amazing that just from her voice he fell in love. I hope it was a happy relationship

I will admit, there's been several times that I have been on business calls where the woman on the other end of the line sounded sexy. On at least a few occasions I have steered the conversation towards the personal side of things, more or less to keep the conversation going. I had no hopes or aspirations whatsoever of ever meeting up with the person on the other end of the line, but sometimes some people just can spellbind you with their voice.

I think that's awesome. You're right - some people with the personality on the phone or their speaking voice can be quite provocative -- and it's amazing at that point looks never come in to it. I wondered many times what my call center man looked like - but - no idea. :-)
It's sort of funny. Usually I play trivia on a team for the yearly 50 hr. trivia marathon - This year I was on the phone bank, so I got to see some of the people I'd talked to in year's past.

Sounds like a romantic comedy. But who knows , maybe you'll meet someday . Stranger things have happened ! I've learned to just enjoy it in the moment. If it's meant to be it will be.
