Rain and More Rain

We are in the midst of another cloudy day, we've had so many this summer. The ground hardly dries out until another rain comes in. But so be it, we had a drought that lasted several years not that long ago. Lake Lanier was almost empty and our water supply was iffy.
All the car washes were closed down and home owners were seldom allowed to water their lawns. People built water storage tanks and many prepared for the long haul. That time seems far away now. We are not lacking rain this summer.
Now our lakes, rivers and creeks are full to overflowing and it's still okay. We take what we can get. Yesterday when I went walking the ground at the park was soggy and you could mire up in the mud.
Of course at our apartment the parking lots are paved and we live on the side of the hill so we don't worry about flooding. The creek in at the bottom of the hill is full but it can't get near us.

Well, enjoy the cooling rain. We have tropical heat in Daytona Beach but they say some rain is coming tomorrow and I am going to go walking in it.

@andriaperry I would like a little less rain but that's not in the cards right now.

I have a big meadow behind my house that never held water until Hurricane Irma hit last year. Since that time, it has essentially turned into a lake from all the rain we keep getting. I know a lot of people around here have been complaining about the rain, but I never complain about it. For decades our water management authorities have been telling us that we were sucking our underground aquifers dry. Now, with all the rain we've had over the past year, they say the aquifer is pretty much filled back up, which is great news! Our springs are flowing better, our river levels have risen, and even our lake levels have come up significantly.

@RubyHawk Florida and Georgia needed a season of very heavy rain to recharge our lakes, rivers and aquifers. We had quite a few years where we were running low on water. It's good to see everything replenished. I hope California gets a good soaking soon to help put out all those wildfires.

@moffittjc I hope so too, they really need some good hard rains. i usually hear of a few forest fires in our area during summer but I haven't heard of even one this summer. All the rain was a big help for Ga. and Fla.

I haven't heard of any real flooding here. the rivers and creeks have been higher than usual but I'd rather have that than drought. For awhile people were warned not to canoe or swim in the river because of the current. But I believe the warning isn't in effect now. I suppose it's good for the planet to keep the rain going. One thing we can't live without is water.

We are in the same situation I guess. Last summer we got 40c temperature highs and no rain came in and everything were dry. When the first signs of rain came in as wet season arrived it was refreshing to feel the cooled down temperatures. But as the days came by and non stop rains drenched our place it became a curse than a blessing. Rivers overflowed and many places were flooded and many people got displaced from their homes. The rains have subsided already but many places from our surroundings are still flooded. Hopefully it continues to be sunny and less rains delivered so floods will naturally drain off.

I hope the water all drains away soon. It's so terrible when people are flooded out and lose their homes. My sister lost her home a few years ago due to flooding. The homes on her street were all demolished and where they stood is now a park.

Good to know that floods don't worry you. Enjoy the rains while you can. We've been having plenty of those too. Monsoon rains.

Enjoy you rain. It's raining here in Bangalore to since last 3-4 days...it rains heavily, it drizzles and then again rains heavily. Today morning we got some bright sunshine but soon it turned cloudy. Expecting another shower any moment.
