Today with the tropical heat in Daytona Beach hovering at 90 degrees I was reminded of a favorite song "Key Largo" by Bertie Higgins. Well, I am not in Key Largo but I tell you today I bravely went out there to do some shopping and I know that next time I will grab my trusty digital camera. I walked past incredible houses in colors that just blended with the landscape. Past small and tall palm trees and I was so excited to see a little lizard but he had no intention of talking to me. For those of you who prefer cooler climes, you can take my place in Riga, Latvia where today it is just in the 60s and raining. The song "Key Largo" makes me fantasize since it mentions two of my favorite Old Hollywood actors Humphry Bogart and Lauren Bacall or as the song says Bogie and Bacall. This song was recorded by Higgins in 1981 and by 1962 it was on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was certified Gold by the RIAA. It even became popular in the U.K. Higgins includes lyrics about Bogie and Bacall from the movie "Key Largo" where Bogie finds Bacall living there. It also adds lines from the classic "Casablanca" "Here's lookin at you kid". The song was included on his album Just Another Day in Paradise. How many of you know and like this song?
