"But it's a dry heat"

Eugene, Oregon

We are in the midst of at least a week of very hot weather in Oregon varying from 95 to 100 degrees F (35 to 36 C) down to maybe 60 F (15 C) at night. Unlike many areas in the US, we don't have a lot of humidity with the heat, so as the title says, it is a dry heat, but far hotter than our normal. While the house painting is moving along, the painters must stop early each day since the paint dries to a paste as they try to put it on the house. I would not want to be working outside in heat like this. Do you have heat plus humidity where you live?

Thanks for mentioning Celsius as well! There isn't excessive humidity where we live, but always some because Germany is rather green. My husband comes from the island of Sardinia in the Mediterranean Sea. The inner part is not green but yellow/brown in summer because of the heat. No humidity there. I'm not a great fan of heat but it's easier to endure when it is dry.

We are only 60 miles from the ocean and in normal years get maybe 40 inches (101 cm) of rain, but the summers can be very dry and hot with many fires.

Oh yes! The other day I was watching the news and we had 83% humidity, or as I call it wet bra day.

That much humidity with heat sounds deadly.

So you are getting your house painted? Some time? Its hot here, too. 100 might be the high today.

I figured you were even warmer there. Being such a moderate fellow, I hate the heat.

@JamesHxstatic Actually you are about as hot as me in temps. Its weird how the West side is getting to be hardly different than the East side.

@sallypup Yes, it is very strange. The house paining started on Monday, all roller and brush.

Yes. We have a lot of humidity. So it's hotter, and we are miserable.

My sympathies. When I lived in San Antonio, it was like that.

It's only been in the low 90s here lately and the humidity has been higher than usual but by the 20th of this month we should be back on track with high 90s to low 100s and minimal humidity, just like I like it.

It is never too humid here, but it happens during summer that we may have hot days with higher humidity. Right now is not too bad.

We don't have much of either humidity or heat as a rule, but we have been very warm here for the last month. We could do with some rain.

We mostly have dry heat too. I'd hate to be trying to cope with high humidity. As it is, we're having frost after frost here in the mornings.
