The translation most of the 'Pied Piper' believer-herders preach to call people to fall in line: "Ye shall receive power (from the Holy Spirit)." I understand that 'the passage Brother Copeland justifies his "Three Steps to Taking Power from Jesus" with' (funnily, not the same passage as his 'Ye shall receive power'-quote which comes from 'Jesus after the resurrection, while the 'Taking'-process comes from before). That (and the general 'stay passive unless you're a member of the royalty'-feeling I'm sure King James wanted his translators to promote) probably informs the translation 'receive' in Jesus' post-resurrection "Ye shall receive power," but the root-meaning of the Greek there can mean "receive" OR "take." I suppose the way Jesus means it is 'Ye shall have full ownership of the power of the Holy Spirit.' (You notice I described 'the three-step process' as "Taking" rather than "Receiving"-or-"Graciously accepting"-etc.) If I wanted to 'do a "tirade" on Brother Copeland's bending Jesus' words into the meaning that works in his favor," I could. But I think I'll look at it as if Brother Copeland's just 'telling it like it is.' You have to '1) keep His commands, 2) Speak "the" Name, & 3) Live the Love.' And Brother Copeland goes on a bit about how 'keeping His commands' isn't "sticking to the letter of God's law." It's more like 'being a Disciple (i.e. following the pattern of The Mentor).' Or--as The Gospel-Scripture says--"Let not your heart be troubled!"
