Could have been worse?

I was at work Thursday minding my own business when a tech guy comes by with a cart and tells me I'm moving. No boxes, just his cart. So I pull everything off my walls, out of my desk, put everything together. He moves me. Nothing works initially. So he gets me up and running and leaves. Meanwhile, I'm expecting test results back on the cats. Oreo has elevated protein, Sassy looks to have kidney disease, and Kit Kat has a thyroid issue. Long conversation with the vet. So meds for Kit Kat, change of diet for Sassy and Oreo (not the same one, of course). So I'm in a fine mood when the phone rings in the bathroom. It's Naomi, and her phone isn't working. I can hear background noise and "hospital" but she can't hear me. I finish up in the bathroom, and I get a phone call from Dearra. The ex came and was taking the kids to the casino buffet, and they think he's having a seizure, so they're taking him to the ER. Wonderful. So I notify his siblings. Can't concentrate, so I leave work early, pick up the cat, meds and expensive food, drop that off, and head to the hospital (moral support for kids). Well, sure enough it's a seizure. I take Cary to his wrestling thing, take Naomi home and Dearra shows up with her dad soon after. The girls take off with their dad (spending the night), and I go out to eat with Tony (our anniversary). I'm figuring Cary will call wanting to be picked up, so we get pizza, figuring we can pack it and go if necessary. I'm literally ordering and the phone rings. Not Cary, not the vet (expecting one more test result), it's my sister-in-law. Her life is all shot to sht, her son won't let her see her grandson, and she's started drinking again. She talks my ear off for over an hour. So much for a little one on one time with Tony. It could have been worse, right?

Holy crap. I guess it could have been worse, but that's pretty darn bad. Kudos for just getting through the day.

Wow how full of twists and turns your day has been. It could have been worse. Leaving out the hour long soap opera would have helped a lot.

Yeah, she wanted me to push a magic button to stop her from drinking. I suggested she get up right now and pour it down the sink. She said that didn't work, she was spiralling downwards and couldn't stop it, etc. From 1000 miles away, what could I do but listen?

It can always be worse. A Kansas farmhouse could land on you... At least you have your/our/myLot in which to blow off steam.
