How about a Referral Program here on MyLot?

Philippines
July 15, 2018 4:33am CST
I have been wondering if it is possible for MyLot to have a referral program wherein the current members can invite new members (like me week before), as what other sites have been doing. I am loving Mylot and I just thought what if we are given the chance to expand the community? Economically speaking, it is good for the site too - more members, more traffic. Don't get me wrong. The site is good and enough as it is today which is why I am being active here; hence, I love being here. This idea just came through me this morning and I can't shake it off. How about you? What is your opinion on this matter? :)

There was a referral program before 2013 but it ended, of course, when the earnings program was closed. A referrals program wasn't implemented when the earnings program started up again in 2015, probably because the way that earnings were calculated and awarded was changed radically and so any referral scheme would have to be redesigned as well. The owners have stated (in the Earnings Program FAQs) that there is no referral program as yet "although this is something we're strongly considering for the future. Right now we're focused on perfecting the new earnings algorithm." My own view is that referral systems can, in certain circumstances, go some way towards increasing traffic and certainly can boost a person;s earnings but really only at the expense of the earnings level in general. As the current earnings system here is based on the interactions one receives, rather than on the posts one makes oneself, there is a hidden benefit in inviting people to join because those people may be more likely to interact with your posts and therefore increase your earnings.

MyLot used to have a referral program before 2013. What I remember of it is that some people owning a "earn money online" site were referring thousands of members and were earning 25% of the money earned by their active referrals (a very low number to tell the truth, myLot is not for everybody and 90% of people who were joining were not posting anything) by logging only once every 3 months to cashout without posting anything most of the time. I prefer the actual method where the money is shared only between active members and does not go to professional referrers.

what will happen is people will just concentrate on promoting mylot to earn their commission. lots of people will sign up but very few stay. it's already happening even without the referral fee. it might also attract even more spammers. mylot is set up differently. it's better to treat this just as an online hangout where you're free to come and go. then find a second, third, fourth site if you want to earn more.

@brokekid0212 If you want to pretend that the link you give is a referral link, you could still use the old format, which for you would be: "mylot.com/?ref=brokekid0212". It doesn't do anything, of course (though if the owners ever do re-introduce a referral program of some kind, it's possible they may use the same format).

Exactly what I think. Most of the time a referral system benefits mainly to a few professional referrers. People creating websites to earn online are getting their money from referrals and are rarely participating.

I am really not saying that I want a referral program to earn money? It is just that in Forums, when there are referral links, there is a higher chance of people joining. Sorry if I gave off the vibe of being "hungry for money". It was just an idea and I did not know that there was a referral program before. :(

You don't need a referral program to tell others about the site. If you know someone who likes to blog and earn money, invite them. It will benefit everyone when you do.

If you like something and enjoy it in the real world, do you only share such information because you receive a compensation of some sort to share? I don't! I share my favorite products because I enjoy it! I also share opinions on things I don't like/ what didn't work!

@myklj999 Which doesn't make sense. You'd think if you refereed a friend, chances are you have something in common so you'd be bound to come across something they wrote because its a shared interest topic! so you could be indirectly increasing your comment base and thus your earnings! I know I've mentioned this place to quite a few stay at home moms. I never followed up on if they joined or not, but to me its a great place to pop into from time to time. Especially since I know some moms at home can get a little cabin fever and sometimes lack the face-to-face interactions from time to time.

We dont have that right now, as for what I've heard from other members, they used to have that before. Don't know the reason why itgot removed tho. For me, I don't really mind, we can still tell to others about this site through blogs or even other forum sites.

We use to have such provision in the past , but it is no longer is available now! That is the policy by the professional team and they understand the economics better than us as far as the site is concerned! Thanks!

You can share the information about the site without expecting any compensation for it. They have stopped it. But we can still promote it if we find it good.
