Starbucks will eliminate ALL plastic straws by 2020 - Good \ Bad?

This topic isn't new. to be honest, when I first heard about it I was kinda baffled by it. I mean, really? simply gonna get rid of all plastic straws? where is the solution? apparently, Starbucks will provide a new kind of straws that are made of 'plastic-like' material. a recyclable one. and if you're not a straw kinda guy they will have a special lid with a small "teardrop-shaped opening" so you can still sip from your favorite drink as usual. also, Starbucks will eventually make the entire hot cups fully recyclable and compostable. when heard the small details I didn't like the idea.. but seeing the full picture I think Starbucks is doing a great thing. what do you think? are they making a mistake? please, share your thoughts

it is good for the nature as it help to reduce the plastic usage. Unfortunately it can be a little tricky for girls.

A good replacement for the plastic straw would be a bamboo straw. It is hollow and a very safe element to use as well as organic.

@Ntan822. I'd say they are durable. Most people only use a straw once then toss it. These straws are compostable.
As people become more and more aware of how much trash they’re generating, many households have switched from disposable products to reusable, sustainable ones. Drinking straws are one such product that has seen a big change - you can now find reusable dri

@Starmaiden I don't think it's gonna be the best answer. and it's too different. people don't like a change.

@Ladanger yes.. sounds small and irrelevant but when it comes to billions and billions of straws it's a real impact. slowly the world will understand and go greener every year. hopefully.

I think it is a bad idea since to stay in business, give people what they want and cave in to pressure from special interest groups.

A - I don't think Starbucks will fall because they changing a simple thing as a straw. i bet you won't even notice. B - So give people what they want and make literal BILLIONS of unrecyclable waste that kill our planet slowly but surely? sorry.. but if that what people want then they are acting like some babies that you need to satisfy. no matter the cost.

Well environmental wise yeah it is good. But for the taste I hope it won't have an affect. Cause I experienced using a recyclable staw and it taste like cardboard paper it over power the taste of the fruit shake thay I was drinking.

well.. I think if Starbucks doesn't want to get rid of all customers they will make something that won't destroy "too much" your experience of taste and enjoyment

agree... it will be a huge amount of waste that won't be created. i hope other companies will slowly do these kinda things and maybe in 10 years will be in a greener, healthier Earth.

I've been drinking from my sippy cup and cups of drinks I bought from cafes long before such a rule has been implemented. I'll be fine, without a doubt. Makes no difference to me whatsoever.

idk ..People here are rather bad about recycling unless its scrap metal because there's no incentive in recycling other materials

I still don't know. I'm not much of a Starbucks fan, I can't afford their drinks. But if that will happen, let see about it.
