I had bought new tires for the car, two at a time, at walmart. They are good about replacing the tires when you get road hazard for $10, I always buy that.
I had a back tire leaking air and put air in a couple times, today I got in the car and that tire needed air, I drove to walmart and made them check it.
There was a nail in the side edge of the tire, a small finishing nail. Thy put me a new tire on and it was free. Except the $1.00 state charge, whatever that is, then I buy the road hazard again for the new tire so I should have paid $11 like always.
But......
I was charged for lifetime rotation and balance, that I already have, air valve and something else, it was $14 more.
Tomorrow I will call and ask why I was charged for this.
But I do have a new tire.

@RubyHawk yes they will do that, but they charge you and then give the money back. I think starters , generators and batteries have what they call "core" cost.

@andriaperry My daughter in law told me this morning that something burned out on my sons car on his way home from work yesterday. The parts store was kind enough to let her come get the part which had a warranty on it, and bring the old one in when my son gets the car repaired., I thought that was neat.

@YrNemo Well I have not changed a tire all alone but almost, we had a flat on a boat trailer and Tony could not fix it by himself at the time due to chemo so I helped, the ligs are so tight I may not be able to do it alone.

@andriaperry I so wish I could fix/maintain the car myself. To be at the mercy of some males over this issue, really irk me!

@andriaperry When you need to use the car a lot, better to have those kind of services.

Glad you got that fixed. I traded that chevy blazer off with a leaky tire. I know it just needed popped off and put back on. Some tyeps of rims will lose the seal when it gets cold out. And it had started leaking over the winter. Nothing more tiring than constantly putting air in a tire.

Yes it is! We have an air tank but when I am cleaned up and about to leave I dont want to hunt the key to the shed, drag it out, pump it up and then go back and wash my hands before leaving.

@andriaperry Ours is in the garage and I am often parked in front of the garage. But still a pain to plug it in, drag it out, then put everything back. I just wasn't putting any money into the blazer as I planned on trading it off even back then.

Yes, it sounds like whoever handled your transaction did not know what they were doing, OR they were trying to determine what they could get away with.

I get mine at discount tire store, once I buy a plan with the tires I don't have to buy a new plan although sometimes they will ask if I want to extend the plan for a few bucks if it's gettin close to it's expiration date. I've never had to pay for a replacement tire.
