Being a 2nd population country of the world and having around 125 crores of people yet we are far behind to get ticket into the football. The runners up of this world cup having mere population of just 45 lakh perform terrific and won the hearts there are many nations whose population is in lakh still they get into the football world cup. would you tell me what is the reason that india never qualified for the fifa football cup ?

You need to have a team that can win a qualifier to do well. Also your team must get national interest. Maybe one of the members should be a celebrity to get a national support. National support is needed to boost the morale of the team.

Keep in mind that if there's no culture of football it's hard to develop one. China is the biggest country and they don't qualify and the USA - who have a ton of money to throw at the sport - are still terrible at football. Sport is in the heart and for India you'd need to displace cricket and hockey first to make space. And of course, flat grass is an essential. I was in India when the first ISL kicked off and they were trying REALLY hard to make a spectacle of the game but it was clear that the local players have a LONG way to go. Until they can break into playing for the big European or South American teams, India won't be a contender.
