What states to see on a two-week road trip?

My hubby has not taken off from work since last March when we went to Las Vegas. He is finally taking off this year. It will be in August and for two weeks. We were thinking of taking a road trip across the US. I've always wanted to tour national parks but I think this will have to be postponed for another time. Wondering where to start, what states to visit and what to see on a two-week road trip. I was thinking of maybe visiting places in the North East since that's where we live, though I've always wanted to go to New Orleans and Nashville. Any recommendations?

You only have two weeks, and with it being a road trip, I would stick to the states closest to you, so you could get as much out of the road trip as possible.

That is a good idea. Wonder how many states we should do?

@lovebuglena How many can you get to in a relatively short amount of time, and enjoy to the max before moving on to the next location? That's what I would consider.

@just4him Good advice. Will have to talk it over with my husband. I looked a tour agency website and the trips they have there. They have one that goes to these states: LA, MS, AL, TN, GA, NC, SC. And supposedly it's a seven day tour. I know you probably fly to one of the places first and then do a bus tour. Anyway, if they fit so many states into a seven day tour then we should definitely be able to fit in more than two states ourselves. Not sure about that many though. I doubt you can see a lot in each state in such a short time.

You could visit destinations between Nashville and New Orleans. Maybe fly on a plane and hire a car when you get there. Good luck with your planning.

It's too hot and humid in New Orleans around this time. So not a good idea. And hubby doesn't want to go to the South at this time either.

South to Florida? Visit the southern cities like Charleston.

Florida is too far I think as we live in NYC.

Maybe you can kick off with the states near you that you have not visited.

I've got states that we can visit that are closer to NY. I really wanna go to New Orleans though... We gotta sit down and talk it over. Or maybe see a travel agent for advice, though they'd probably wanna sell us their own tours.

So far, we have not discussed anything or started planning anything... Not much time left till August to plan something.
