The Away Of All Flesh

Preston, England

Being overweight, quite a lot of my clothes are ill-fitting, especially my shirts. Even large and extra large tee shirts sometimes rise up on me. The other day I was walking through the street when a chap nearby snapped at me to get a bigger shirt and cover myself up. Suffice to say I yelled back at him with comments that I won.t be able to repeat here. Being a warm day lots of men were completely bare chested and lots of girls wore high cropped shirts and blouses to show off their midriffs. The message seems to be clear. If you are young and attractive, reveal all the skin you can.If you are older, wrinkly, or overweight, bury yourself in as many layers as possible, or take up a faith that wraps you in cloaks, shrouds, veils and more besides. I have actually been to nudist / naturist events without problems, so a slight glimpse of my belly causing someone to react like he has just seen a blob-monster from the tar pits of Bartlfraf 7 complete with open presentation of tentacles and testicals was rather disconcerting. I am not the most attractive mortal, but I am hardly so ghastly that people should run in terror or reach for sick-bags on sight of me. Dome people really need to get a life. It sounds as if that person has a problem that is bigger than your belly. At least you were out walking, that is good for you.

What is it that some people do not get? That it hurts others to be spoken to like that, or if they could they would be slimmer and younger?

I cannot believe that someone made that remark, I would have also transformed into a monster and told that one something unpleasant.

Ha ha...this is a good one. I am glad you gave it back. It's the same for middle aged me. My tailor told me the other day my measurements have increased.

We live in a world of vain, young and young-ish people with their designer this-and-that, fake tans, etc - and usually all paid for on credit which will one day catch up with them. Very little in the way of achievements and no respect for age and experience but they think they're WONDERFUL!!!
