Team Work Is KEY!

Nothing in life is as simple as it seems but I can say from personal experience that some people just like to complicate things more than they need to. I run a crane company along side with my father and he is the President and im the Vice-President and often we bump heads due to his old ways of doing things. Im sure a few years back his methods worked but now its more of a hassle than help. One thing im strict about is organization and having a daily planner, unlike my dad who does things out of impulse and will send crane operators and drivers out to work and not inform me can be annoying when trying to keep everything in order. Recently my dad has been coming to the company less and today he finally admitted that my way worked and he was surprised to see our employees working together instead of arguing and slowing down our work day. I simply told him if you and I work together and communicate more often everything will run smoothly! Team work is Key to running any establishment!

I agree with you, you have to talk about what will be done and not on each day, When I ran the roofing company, each evening the employees were told what to expect the next morning, if a new job was for the day they got the early morning meeting.

Yup, I do the same, we work until 5 pm but I stay till 6 pm and organize and transports that we have for the next day and gas up the trucks before time to not waste time in the morning doing that. He found it silly one afternoon that I was alone in the yard gassing trucks up until a week later that we had a busy day and the drivers took over 35 mins each just to gas up

Maybe dad is thinking about kicking back and relaxing and letting you do all the work!

Good job! it's probably hard to go "against" your dad although you think you know what's best for the company. and good job from his side too! he admitted that you were correct and didn't deny it. gave the credit. sounds like you guys are a good team! wishing you a good time working together in peace.

Yeah cool. But just be nice to your dad. After all, he's the company starter. And without him, you won't be where you are right now telling him what to do. You have to give him that amount of respect and not to ever give the idea that you are "overruling" him. Otherwise, good job.
