Don't go out and rake when it's 101 in the shade!

Well, I won't go out and work in the yard for now, but, I already had my sunblock on and my flip-flops. I was all ready to go out and do some raking and was told by my wife to STAY INDOORS. The pic I used for this discussion is perfect for representing the DOG DAYS OF SUMMER 2018. I hope you like it. It is not my dog, but I am sure the owner of that hot dog is proud of his pet. Okay, then, I will not go rake that area of the yard now. Fine. I will just take off my Dallas Cowboys baseball cap, and remove my flip-flps and head back to the computer. It is cool in the house. I did go outside for a minute to dump out a bowl of strawberries that had molded in the fridge. I just figured it this advice was good for me to follow, I should follow up on it and share an article about why not to go out in the yard when it's triple digits outside. Meanwhile, I watch Black Bear News because it's better than local news and I enjoy myLot. So I got nowhere to go. The only other thing I could do is finish that book I was reading this morning or finish up this post and then play the Sims 4 for a little longer and have some more 4 minute coffee. I have lived long enough to know better than go rake when it's past 100 degrees F. But I was comfy in the cave and thought about doing a little raking. NOT FOR A SINGLE SECOND. I have to wait til early morning tomorrow to go and rake, before the temp goes back up and it will be a degree hotter tomorrow afternoon than it will be later on today. It's currently, at the time of this writing, 1:24 PM on this Wednesday, July 18th, 2018 in Big-D, Dallas, Texas during the Dog Days of Summer From OSHA online, The US Department Of Labor has this to offer to workers who do their jobs outside in extreme heat. The do's and not to do's and other helpful information for your work crew during the dog days of summer 2018.

I don't do anything outside when it's that hot! I stay in with the AC on and wait for it to cool off. There can be as much as 40 degrees difference here between the hottest part of the day and the coolest part of the night, so I try to do things outside early in the morning.

This is a bit like living in a desert. It gets cooler at night but blistering hot in the middle of the day. I will be putting aside extra money just in case we have to replace our AC. It could burn out without warning and that would be a very immediate concern. There are poor people in our neighborhood who can't even afford to pay their own electricity bills. They suffer in silence and I know it must be very difficult for them.

@lookatdesktop People used to live without air conditioning but I am glad most of us have them. I feel sorry for those who don't. I have three window ACs and one of them is going out, but I am going to tough it out until next spring. I can turn on both of the other two if I have to.

I can't not rake when it's 91. It could be just under 90 when I wake up at 5 tomorrow morning. We might not see temps going down much over the next several weeks. It's a real bummer. I bet it gets plenty hot in LA.

Make sure you stay hydrated when you go out. I am glad to get things done on cooler days so I can take a break on the hotter ones
