being a 90s kid was the best

I have been watching The Goldbergs lately and it reminds me a lot of my childhood despite that I don't really remember the 80s I do however remember the 90s which some of the 80s carried over to. I was an 80s baby and a 90s child and I remember the 90s with clarity and I remember a lot of stuff from the 80s because it was brought to the 90s like cabbage patch kids and Nintendo among other things. I really miss that time period because life was simple in comparison to now when it comes to so many things. I mean in some ways life was harder because you couldn't just call or text someone and hear back within seconds. It was going to the store and hoping you had change for a pay phone and praying someone on the other end would pick up if you had to get a hold of them if you forgot what you were going to get. Almost nothing was instant gratification the way it is now. If you had to do homework you went to the library. When we did have computers and the internet it wasn't as fast as it is now and a lot of people still didn't own a computer let alone have internet at home. Life was slower paced but I liked it that way. I had the best of both worlds really. I was among one of the first to use computers and the internet but I wasn't ran by it. I still lived a life mostly offline. I didn't have every failure posted online for the world to see. I didn't get bullied online. It was just a different world than it is today. It's amazing how much has changed in my lifetime at the relatively young age of 31. In three decades life has changed drastically. When I was 8 I wanted a new doll or a dollhouse. Kids today want iPhones and iPods. It really is a different world. I remember riding my bike around town and to friends houses I was not dominated by a screen. I loved watching TGIF on Friday nights and I equally loved Saturday morning cartoons. The 90s had some of the best TV shows. I also loved Nickelodeon when we finally got cable. I mean while I loved watching TV I only spent a short amount of time doing it like when the weather was too bad to play outside. I spent the majority of my time outside being a kid. When I was inside I would watch tv or get creative and make up my own games or make a fort. I have noticed 90s nostalgia is a big thing now that the vast majority of us 90s kids are in our 30s and everyone is playing on our nostalgia and bringing things back. I have to say it's great marketing and I am kind of enjoying it. I love things from my childhood because it reminds me of when things were right with the world or at least my world. It reminds me of when my life was easier back when my parents made the big decisions and I got to be a kid. I remember complaining some back then and I really wish I would have stopped to enjoy life more but I really did live it up. Back then the future was so far in the distance and everything was new and exciting and my future could be anything. I miss seeing life from that perspective. I think most people remember their childhoods fondly but I worry kids today won't fully be able to remember their childhoods because their memories are going to be filled with screen time and not fully living life. My best memories are not TV time but family and friend time. Those moments with parents and friends are some of the best memories I have. Friday nights with my family grocery shopping and going to dinner and Saturdays at my friends houses or them at my house those are the best memories I have. I only wish more kids today had that. I might be wrong on the memory front because I have no clue what it really means to be a kid today but I do feel like so many kids are missing out on being kids but that's just my opinion and I might be wrong.

Very true. I am happy I grew up without social media and things but I love having access to things instantly. I get so irritated when the internet is slow but when I was younger I definitely had more patience waiting for it to connect because it wasn't fast by any means. It's funny how much can change in the matter of a decade.

@Missmwngi Unfortunately most people under a certain age don't have the proper skills to use the common sense to use it properly. I remember reading that a person's brain usually doesn't fully develop until their mid to late 20s meaning those younger do make a lot of dumb decisions it really does explain the actions of teenagers and a lot of college students and their impulse control issues at times. I mean it's not an excuse but it explains a lot.

So was my mom. The 50s is one of my favorite eras in history. I feel like technology wise things get better for each generation at least in some aspects. Looking at what kids have now it's a huge difference from what I had as a kid but compared to what my mom had growing up it's an even larger difference. It's so amazing how much changes in just a decade. My mom goes on about party lines and things all the time. She used to go on about nosey neighbors and things. At any rate, I'm actually happy I didn't grow up with social media, bullying was bad enough without it.
