She walked into the room,
Cold and gray.
Her lips were pierced
As she began to say,
"Children, listen to me.
No talking, no squawking,
No fiddle dee dee."
"No fooling around.
Work long and hard.
Otherwise, you'll be placed
In the Detention Yard."
This substitute was awful.
This substitute was mean.
This substitute was the nightmare
Of every innocent teen.
"My name is Mrs. Grim.
I expect you to behave.
If you don't follow my rules,
Your situation may become grave."
The students listened.
The students did not complain.
They didn't want Mrs. Grim
To start a tyrant's reign.
And so the day went well.
Not a peep of disagreement was sound.
The students were relieved
When the following day,
Mrs. Grim left town.
