I am taking a time off mylot because I am watching an afternoon drama series, and I am putting my feet up. With my upright position when on desktop, I feel my legs and feet are collecting fluids; hence the putting up of my feet will help reduce the fluid accumulation in my ankles and legs. Do you put your feet up when you take a rest?

Yes, I always put it up when I arrive from work. That way, the blood accumulated on my feet would circulate to my legs again.

@SIMPLYD yes it is. it cleanses our kidneys, removes toxins in our bodies, and normalizes our blood pressure through salt removal.

When I was still working in Kalinga, I used to hike to the mountains. After doing my fieldwork, I will take a rest while resting my legs elevated on a chair.

When I first had fluid pooling in my ankles, which mainly only happened one time when I was in my early forties I never put my feet up and am paying the price for that yet today. Did you know when elevation is recommended for that and other situations that what is meant is to elevate your legs higher than your heart? Had I been elevating my legs that high these past few months it's quite possible the wound that is healing very slowly would have healed much quicker. I was told to elevate but never told how much and I didn't think to ask.

yes that is true. elevating your legs higher than you heart will improve the venous blood return flow to your heart, but this should be done at intervals only. there is a danger of blood and oxygen deprivation into the lower extremities. also, pins and needles will be felt. it is also advisable to not cross legs in the knees but only in the ankles. leg crossing (knee) impedes blood flow and venous return will be prolonged. the fast healing of your wound with your feet elevated may have been the result of the blood flow that is delayed, and that is good.

Yes I do put my feet up while resting. Even while working on laptop for long time, I try to put it up on table. In night, i put one pillow under my head and two under my feet. i got this habit from my pregnancy days.

Yes that is a good practice. Edema or fluid accumulation in the feet and ankles during pregnancy is caused by the enlarging abdomen because of the growing fetus.
