Our younger son is spending the night at The Saybrook Inn and Marina with his bride tomorrow, the same place where I had my spa massage on the 4th of July. We are spending a night there Sunday.
Our older son is on his way to Maine with his wife. He will visit the Ice Princess Friday and then head to New Hampshire to visit our grandson. It’s Parents Visiting Day at both camps. Three more weeks and summer camp will be over.
Then they will drive back to New York City where they lives, and the following day travel by plane to Halifax, visit, rent a car and go to Prince Edward Island for vacation. The day after they fly home, we will have dinner with them in New York.
But the biggest todo is that our younger son and his bride will be closing and moving into their new house July 25th! We will certainly miss them, but they are only two miles away.
Btw, today is my dear friend’s birthday. Happy Happy Birthday @just4him! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Love it!!!! . I love them too much and just can't do it - totally. Guaranteed, our younger son will drop by our house without knocking more than we will show up at his house ringing the doorbell. I don't think he can let go of us. (Not really)

I love PEI, we visited there twice with our kids, great lobster and of course Anne of Green Gables!! I am wanting to go to Gaspe this year to visit the land of my Native American and other ancestors. I am waiting for my new passport. I know you will love your night at the Saybrook Point Inn.

@DianneN I went to Halifax on a fall cruise a few years ago, the Titanic Cemetery was worth the visit alone. lol I don't have more ancestors I just know about more ancestors lol These are my Mi'kMaq ancestors and there is a new museum dedicated to them that would be of interest to me. Also, my family lived on Bonaventure Island which is now a bird sanctuary. I do make a habit of visiting as many sites related to my ancestors as possible.

@BelleStarr That's awesome. You do have a wonderful knowledge of your family history. Have you visited Cobh, Ireland? It's the place where the last passengers of the Titanic embarked. Great museum, too.

I've never had the desire to go there, but every time we've flown to Europe, Scandinavia, etc. we flew over Halifax. It was always covered in snow, even in the summer. lol
Boy, you have more ancestors than anyone I've met!
If the kids weren't moving next week, I would have loved to spend a good 4 days there, but I'd rather be around for the move. We'll basically go for a dip in the pool, massages, and dinner at Fresh Salt. This photo is from the patio at Water's Edge.

@DianneN - Congratulations to your younger son and his wife on their new home. Since I was a Realtor for many years, I know how exciting that first home can be. Sounds like you will be busy. We have been traveling so much this summer, but we will be home for the next two and a half weeks. Then, we will be traveling to Delaware to see our youngest daughter, her husband and their three young kids, including their month-old baby. Can't wait for that trip!

@DianneN - It is a lovely home! I'm sure your son and daughter-in-law will love living there.
Thank you for the congratulations. Our daughter had a baby girl, which is what she really wanted. She now has a four year-old boy, a two year-old boy and the newborn girl. She is the daughter who was a shoe buyer for Neimans before she had kids, so she can hardly contain herself, putting all the "girly" things on her new baby! LOL Her husband is a scientist (a molecular bio-chemist) and he was given six weeks of paternity leave to help out. I think that is so wonderful! The boys have loved all the extra attention.
They put a swing set in the back yard that looks like a pirate ship, so the boys have been having fun with that. An Amish family built it for them. They were worried that their homeowner's association wouldn't allow it, but they did get permission. It is so cute!

@DeborahDiane Thank you! The kids can't wait to move in. I don't blame them either.
I think that's so nice that your daughter had a girl. It will be such fun dressing her up in girly things. My son, the attorney in NYC, also received 6 weeks of paternity leave and enjoyed being home with the babies and his wife.
That pirate swing sounds like lots of fun! Take a photo of it when you visit.

Thank you and welcome home! I didn’t know you were a grandma again! Congratulations to you and your family. Is the baby a boy or girl?
We are so thrilled that our son managed to buy a house in our town and only two miles away. All the houses he saw were snapped up before he could put a bid in or else people paid cash hundreds of thousands more than the asking price. It is certainly a sellers market. I’m going to try to include a photo. This will be his second home.

Sounds like you have a lot of things going on over the next few days.
Thank you so much. I had a wonderful day at the Botanical Gardens, and I bought myself a membership for my birthday, so I can go back anytime I want, and I want. The membership was very reasonable. They have concerts every Thursday night. I could have stayed, but I would have needed a chair, which I don't have, and I had already been there for a couple hours in the sun. It was time to go home. Here's a pic, and mind you this sculpture is 100% Legos. The wheelbarrow, grandpa, plant, grandchild, and shovel.

I'm so happy you enjoyed yourself and treated yourself to a membership. Hopefully, you can attend a concert next week. Get yourself a lightweight folding chair and bring a friend. It sounds awesome and boy do I love what they did with Legos. It's amazing!!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

@DianneN I just looked at the brochure for the concert series to see what next week entails. Sounds like fun, and I just might get a comfortable folding chair for the occasion.
I agree, what they did with Lego's was simply amazing.
Thank you. It put me behind here, but it was totally worth it.

All sons having their own independent lives.
I only have one and imagining that he would live on his own someday somehow gives me the ache in my heart. Is it normal?

It is very normal, but my sons love us enough to stop by for visits, call and text, go out with us to dinner and other places, etc. I'm certain you have a close bond with your son and he will do the same. Some people aren't as blessed as us.

@DianneN Yeah I know how it is there with other children. So you are very blessed.
Here, normally, the children never get emancipated. Parents usually keep them with them even until their children are already married. But I want my son to have that freedom to choose whatever he will do with his life.

@toniganzon He will decide when the time comes. My son and his bride have been living here with us since January, at least since we returned from Florida in April. They will move out next week into their new house. I will be happy to have my home back and they will be happy to have their privacy back. I won't miss them, since they will only be two miles away.

Not until they buy a house full of furniture. They sold all but their bedroom set and a guest room bed when they sold their other house. We are giving them a cash gift to cover that and anything else they want to do to the house. Her parents are treating them to a kitchen table and chairs. I'm so excited for them. They are hiring a decorator for ideas and furniture placement.

It is very nice how your family may travel. Last night, I was just thinking of where I would like to travel. The first place I thought of was Florida. Maybe one day...

@DianneN Thank you!
I agree with you about worrying. When I was younger, I had always wanted to go to England. Now, too afraid to fly. Yes, now I can only stay on land to travel.
I want to live in a warm climate during the winter monthes. I guess I can dream...

@DianneN we should all be happy to be alive, each day gives us countless possibilities . Being healthy is a must though, hard to enjoy anything at all when you're feeling bad.
I like Valerie, she seems to be a very nice person and I also like her posts. I think it's great that you two are friends .
Have fun there, "see" you later .
