About every three years the big mango tree in our yard gets pruned. It looks so barren now but in a few months it will be green with leaves again!

That is a good idea We have four trees and we cannot harvest the fruits with ease as they are pretty high.

@Paradon We have these guys who do that job for us but they are careless. As you know a dropped mango is as good as to be thrown away.

I guess you could use a ladder or better still a young kid as they can climb anything safely!

Yes, pruning the trees help to grow again with nice new foliage! Does this help in bearing the fruits for the season?

Yes, the fruit always comes out in abundance. My only problem is that they are green mangoes and not the yellow that I really enjoy.

@Paradon , The green ones are plucked and stored in straw to ripen them in our country!

Not really. It is a bit brighter when I open my front door but that is ok.

Have you ever eaten the mangoes of this tree? I am sure it looks really good when the leaves will come again. By the way, why it is pruned after 3 years?

They prune it so it will not be knocked down in a windstorm.

They do the same to all the big trees in front of our garden. Every 3/5 years they get pruned in late autumn, in Spring they grow new leaves.
