SIXdays

Good evening to one and all! We had brief but heavy rains a couple of hours ago, and I was kind of worried because my son was still driving home. I opened the gate when I saw the car coming. 6 days! Yes, my son will be attending the first day of his masters classes. He is in school teaching Philosophy for the whole week, and tomorrow, he is out again. Basically, he will be at home the whole Sunday. My son, upon arriving from school, lies down in my bed and relaxes himself. Then, he does his usual task like setting the table for our dinner. He does his chores even though he is working, and that was what I stressed to him. I do my chores when I am on morning shift, and I prepare dogs’ food for dinner. Can you work for 6 straight days?

I worked 6 days a week when I was young, Saturday was a working day back in times. We only had Sunday as free day. After I married and we were self employed, it happened that we even worked 7 days a week.

@ridingbet Working for yourself is a great satisfaction, but you do not count the hours of course. It happened that we started working at 5 in the morning and at midnight we were still working when we had urgent things to do. I am not sure I could now, I am no more young.

when i worked in the secondary hospital as a staff nurse, then senior nurse, then head nurse, i worked 6 days a week, 9 hours straight (when as head nurse). when i was a clinical instructor, i had 6 duty days (Mon-Wed., Thurs-Sat) from 2004 to 2006, then reduced to 4 days a week.

@LadyDuck i had to count the number of hours that i work, because if we extend our work time, our energy will be done and we might not function normally as expected. that is why when i was the HN, i always consider the number of minutes and hours that a staff goes overtime.

I was lucky to have a career that only entailed 5 days of work per week. When I was young, I could do anything. Does your son have his own bed?

@DianneN we slept together in one bed until he was in his first year high school. from kindergarten to grade 6, we slept in the big matrimonial size Salem bed. when he was freshman high school, he volunteered to sleep alone in another bed.

he does his online work when he arrives home from school. just a quick lying in my bed for 15 minutes, his chore of setting the table, and then he does his articles for content writing. he can manage his time. he left this morning with my brown umbrella for his masters classes in St. Paul University.

Yes, sometimes 7 days.. =) But my job isn't as tiring as working in an office but can also be exhausting because there are times I stay in front of the laptop for more than 12 hours with just a few minutes break... My eyes and lower back suffer...

oh, then working at home in an online job is also tiring and exhausting, right hija? you might have lower back pains, fluid accumulation in your feet and ankles, and your appetite might reduce as well. also, your eyesight might be compromised.

@ridingbet yes, you're right Ate... But it's up to us if we'd be working that long. We own our time. They don't force us to work if we don't want.

It's okay for me as long as there are no over time. I remember working in the call center before, we only have 1 day off and it's not fair at all. Good thing they change it to optional where it's up for you to work on your rest days or not.

Wow it is nice that he still manage to help you with the house chores. And 6 days for me is like forever if I will be away from my kids. The longest that I have been away from my kids is 4 days. But ohhh I so miss them much that time.

yes, i told my son that his work should not be a hindrance to his chores at home. i always remind him of myself that when i am on morning duty, i still cook our rice for dinner, and feed the dogs
