Not the best week ever

Eugene, Oregon
July 20, 2018 4:03pm CST
I wrote about losing my wallet already but this morning, I went to get my driver's license replaced. I accomplished that alright and was going to a barber shop I have never been to. I parked the car, started to walk around the corner, but did not see that there was a part of the sidewalk pushed up by a tree root. It caught my left toe. I was looking at something to my left and fell fast and hard, so fast I barely got my hands out and my head hit the pavement, along with both knees, and one elbow. I got up right away, but was dripping blood from my head all over. I turned back to the car to get some paper towels, then a woman came up and offered some sterile wipes. I wiped my knees and a gash in my hand, then used some more to hold against my head. Since I was not dizzy and had no blurred vision, I figured it was just another blow to my hard head, but held the compress on it while I drove to an urgent care place near my house. It only took five stitches for my head. The rest is just skinned knees and abrasions Doctor Dear (real name) said. My left eye is getting black, I see. It is a good thing I had my head turned, otherwise, my nose and my teeth would have hit the pavement. How has your week been?

Egads that's a nasty fall but glad you weren't seriously hurt. It could have been far worse. You're a trooper James cause you're still smiling

Sorry to hear that. Be extra careful next time. You look good in the picture just minus the bandage. A nice smile... I hope you have a better day, today

Oh dear! I am so sorry about that accident. Any head injury can really scare me and I would go for a CT scan or MRI. I am that scared. I have been having sleepless nights for almost a week now so I can say mine is not doing well too but at least no injury like yours.

Oh you poor thing. I do hope you're getting lots of sympathy. Five stitches seems quite a lot. We'll need another photo when your eye is properly black - just so we can give you more sympathy you understand.

Aww thanks Judy. My daughter came to pick up her dog and was shocked by my appearance. Anne was too when I came home.

Yes, I could have been very badly hurt htting my head like that. I know that I am very fortunate in my life to have survived severe head blows three times and still be in good health.

Stitches will come out after a few days, but there may be a scar, not huge though. Thank you for the concern.

Omg! What a week you had! My husband fell in Boston last year and bled all over the place, too. He needed stitches in his forehead, also, and I insisted on a CAT Scan. No scar! Heal well and stay put!

@DianneN Yes, I was glad I was up to it too, though looking pretty scary. I got sympathy points, but no real points during play, though I pointed out my head injury often.

@JamesHxstatic That is good because that was a bad fall, I hurt myself badly when I fell in the grass back in March, I could not walk for a week, I hurt my ankle. Just take it easy for a few days.

No kidding, I have never seen so many doctors in one year before. I went by and measured that raised (by roots) sidewalk. It is two inches high.

That is a real discomfort. I do hope you recover fast. There is always a silver lining as things could have been worse. I have purposely slowed down recently as I tend to miss small bumps along the way - siva
