A car, a plate, and a cookie walk into a bar...

So yesterday my friend, Naomi needed to get her car fixed and asked if I could pick her up at 10am, and maybe we could run around for awhile while it was fixed. She's a nurse, but she was off work. So I showed up on time, but unfortunately, I got a late text telling me she overslept. So I ran an errand, and when I came back she was there. So we went to Home Goods, a store I could live in, if allowed. I didn't buy anything, but she did. We then thought we'd try some place new for lunch and went to Torchy's Tacos. I ordered a Mr. Pink, which is a mahi mahi taco, and it was delicious. I only had one, and it was more than enough for a meal. They also make a Republican taco and a Democrat taco, but I lose my appetite when I think of anything political. She paid for lunch because she felt bad I was carting her around. I don't mind because she has always been a good friend to me. We then went painting, but I just painted a plate. I like painting things I can use. There was a bakery next door so we went over and checked it out. She ordered a lot to take home, but I just ordered a lavender tea cookie and a butter pecan cookie. She tried to pay for those too, but I wouldn't let her. By the way, the lavender tea cookie was amazing. At that point I got a migraine from the 105 degree heat (41 Celsius, I believe). It was just terribly hot. We then went to Hobby Lobby, and another store I can't remember. Her car still wasn't done, so we went back to my apartment to cool off. I think she was starting to suspect I had a migraine because after about 30 minutes she suggested I drop her back at the garage because he was probably close to being done. I did, and a little after 4pm I got home and attempted to finally rid myself of the stupid migraine. I finally got rid of it only to wake up this morning with it back in full force. I proceeded to take a natural 8 Greens (I previously wrote about), a magnesium pill, a whole lot of water (dehydration can cause migraines, although I have had migraines since I was eight, and they haven't been because of dehydration). Finally, I took my prescription migraine pill, which is starting to work, but now I've got those pesky side effects. It's still better than a stupid migraine. There was a reason for this discussion, but now I don't remember it at all. I blame it on the migraine.

You have probably tried everything, but have you ever tried peppermint oil at the base of your skull and on your temples? I would hate to have so many headaches. Has anyone ever looked for chiari syndrome? I know, I know, I am not a doctor, I just got reminded of this because a person I know was having lots of symptoms that were ignored, and then switched doctors and she had to have chiari reduction. It reminded me of a co worker's son who had severe migraines from it. He had surgery for it and it is much better. I think it is more common than we hear about.

I tried peppermint oil, and while it doesn't help my migraines it does help my sinus headaches. Normally people say things like have you see a doctor, which is quite honestly, a ridiculous question when you have had migraines since eight years old. However, I always value your input because you always have something relevant to say. You're the one who told me about magnesium. I will go look up chiari syndrome as I have not heard of it.

I love cookies, the lavender one sounds very inviting. Glad you enjoyed your taco lunch, waiting for your friends car to be repaired. Excessive heat or cold, seems to be a factor, that triggers off some people's migraines. I don't get headaches, I've had two in my entire life. What a blessing!:) Hope you are feeling better

It sounds like you had a wonderful day helping a friend and having fun, that is, until that darn migraine came. Hope it's all gone by now.

I hope you can beat your migraine. These days I usually get an aura and if I take 800mg of ibuprofen, I can usually nip it in the bud, no side effects.

The 800mg worked until I was fourteen (have had them since I was 8). Then one day my mom took me to the doctor because it was three days later and I was no better. Ever since then I have had to use prescription medication. It only bothered me when all of a sudden insurance would only pay for migraine shots. That lasted two years, and I was so happy when they paid for pills again.

@BelleStarr They kept telling me they would get better with age, but they haven't. I have though stopped getting ones that take my vision. I'm happy about that.

@AmbiePam I have had migraines since I was 4 years old. I used to use Fiorinal and codeine. Now that I have gone through menopause, I get them less frequently and it has been about 4 years since I had one that mimicked a stroke and I had trouble speaking. I hope that yours improve as you get older as well.

I'm lucky in that I don't get migraines but my daughter does so I know how debilitating they can be.

The day sounds fantastic until you got your migraine. I have to go to Home Goods. I have only been in that store once or twice, but others speak highly of it. I know where a couple are located..but one of them is in a high traffic area.

It sounds like you had a fun day with your friend, atleast until the migraine. I've only had one or two in my life but they are absolutely no fun. They are a familial trait and so I can only suspect those migraines won't be my last. I hope you are feeling better now.
