Could you live with a stranger in your house?

In our country many people rent empty rooms to strangers. And they live in the same house. Lack of money makes life so hard. Before they rent a room the strangers visit houses. And they choose what they like. If they like the room they come in that house for many months. It's very difficult to live with strangers in a house. Would you do this if you really need to?

My husband and I have taken in many homeless people through the years and it was a blessing being able to help others the way Jesus did. =)

@dya80dya No I have faith and in the Bible it says I will never die-I will have eternal life in Heaven with my Father! Besides doing God's will-we had His protection which is all we need. =)

My sister-in-law let a stranger rent a room in her apartment. It went well and they became good friends, but it is hard to know how it is going to turn out when you don't know the person. I hope that I won't have to do it in my home.

@dya80dya How long did the person live in your home? Or do they still live in your home?

I can, and I do. I did not know my roommate/boarder before he moved in, nor did I know the prior one. It is not ideal, but I need the cash..and the company.

I would not want to but I would if I had to. When I was younger (in my 20's) I tried a roommate. The first and last roommate that I ever had. She got on my nerves and tried to take over my entire house. It only lasted a week. Never again.

@dya80dya Yes and I would have to be in dire straights to let someone take a room in my house and there would have to be very firm guidelines/rules in place that we both signed on.

No I wouldn't want to live with a stranger and thankfully I don't have to. It is an alternative though for those who need extra income.

It is tough though some rent out rooms to strangers. Some are up to no good and even indulge in criminal activities. Unless we know the person, it is better not to though circumstances can force us to overlook such issues - siva

Well only if I had to yes. I do realize how hard this must be for the families to adjust to strangers and even one never knows how these strangers will be.

In my country, the owners ask for some valid ids/certificates before letting people rent a room.

I have lived with strangers and have had to house share. You think that people will be okay and then they usually are at first and then they start slipping into these habits that are not very nice. One roommate I had used to announce whenever I was going to the toilet that I was going to relieve my bowels, which I thought was completely disgusting and insulting.
