My heart was broken upon seeing the news about a teenager who was mauled by some men after they accused him of robbing a chicken. A big fat man held the boy's shorts so he could not run away from his torturers, who were big men also. After punching severely several times causing his nose to bleed, the fat man pushed the boy towards a filthy river nearby. It was good the murky river was not so deep so the boy didn't drown. Being a thief is punishable by law, but a young offender is being forwarded to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for rehabilitation, and when he reaches 18, it is the time that formal charges of robbery can be filed against him. Those men should not put the law unto their hands; they should had turned over the boy to the authorities.

I remember that in the last century Constitution in my country it was a bigger offense to steal a chicken than to do a lot of horrible things. Unfortunately, that happens and in also happens everywhere that people put the law unto their hands. Not long ago, in the US people were hanged by the people of the towns.

It is saddening when people put the law into their hands.

In American western movies we see people hanged for stealing a horse which was supposedly more valuable than a man's wife.

I agree the men over reacted and the parents of the boy should file charges against them. How old is the boy?

@acelawrites _The men were probably bullies in their area. I hope they are not the barangay tanod.

@josie_ no, they look like just "tambays"(loiters) in the neighborhood. Or maybe relatives of the owner of the chicken.

Horrible for them to experience spanking. This should be investigated regardless of what the kid did.

It is alright if it was just spanking the boy, but they really knocked him hard and pushed him towards a very murky river.

How old is the boy? I think the law must lower the age to 13.

It looks like the boy is about 15 yrs. old. But even if he is 13, those men should not do it;they should turn him over to the authorities.

@acelawrites I know they over do it and they deserve to be charge. I've known boys who always repeating doing such offend because the law seems to protect them, that's why I think the law must lower the age to 13.

They thought they have the right to do it! I hope they will get punished for what they had done.
