“You Keep Me Hanging On” is another Motown classic from the famed songwriting team of Holland-Dozier-Holland. Another #1 smash hit for the Supremes in 1966. The song is on the album “The Supremes Sing Holland-Dozier-Holland.” A year later in 1967, Vanilla Fudge did a psychedelic cover going to Billboard #6. Their version is radically different the Supremes to say the least.
Kim Wilde has blonde beauty and pedigree in her favor. She is the daughter of early British rocker Marty Wilde and became huge in the UK. From the album “Another Step,” her cover of “You Keep Me Hanging On” would prover her “big one” going #1 US, #2 UK, #1 Australia and #4 Canada. However, Wilde’s best known song remains “Kids in America” from 1981 reaching just Billboard #25 but received enormous alternative radio play and remains an 80s new wave staple to this day.
“You Keep Me Hanging On” has also been covered by Wilson Pickett, the Box Tops, Rod Stewart and Reba McIntire.

She’s another person I thought should have been bigger in terms of success.

A fantastic # 1 classic song by the Supremes! I do remember that song "Kids in America." She picked a great song to cover.
