Escape games

Some of you may have heard of a type of online games called escape games. When you play an escape game you are locked inside a room and you have to find the way out. I have tried those games a few times, but I was never very good at them Recently I discovered that the same type of game exists offline. A group of friends are locked in a room and they have to search the room and solve different kinds of puzzles in order to get out. I think it could be a good team building activity, but some people might not like the idea of being trapped in a locked room. What do you think about the idea? Would you like to participate in something like that?

I have never heard of such game. It is good to have it online but if one is planning to play offline they it has to be a big spacious room.

Yes, they need a big room for this game. I have never tried the offline version. I don't know if it is harder or easier than the online game. I think that the online games are pretty hard. I never get very far.

@arunima25 I think that you need to be good at riddles if you want to get out of the room. If I ever try the offline version of the game I need to find some friends who are good at those things.

I think it could be a good activity for a group friends if everyone is interested in this type of game. I have played the online version of escape games. I think that they are pretty hard, it is not easy to get out of the room, but it is still fun to try.

@Shivram59 Is the football tournament an annual event? We also have a sports tournament here. It ended some days ago, it always takes place in the end of July. They play in the town where I used to live, and my friends and I watched the games when I lived there. Now I don't watch them.

I have heard that those games are no more only virtual. A thief has entered one "escape room" and he has been obliged to call the police because he has been unable to escape.

@Porcospino I suppose this is very embarrassing for a burglar.

Not for me. I wouldn't like to be trapped in a room with a lot of strangers or even friends.

This type of game is not for everyone. Some people would enjoy it and have fun and some people wouldn't enjoy it at all. If you don't like the idea of being trapped in room with other people it is best to stay away from that type of game.

I haven't tried them either. I know that they exist in my country, but I am not sure that I would be able to find my way out. I never had much success with the online version of the games

I have been wanting to try one of those out ever since I played the Zero Escape series. I don't think I would be very good at it though.

I have played online escape games. I was never very good them, and in most cases I didn't manage to find the way out of the room. I wonder what the other escape games are like (the ones where you are locked in an actual room) It could be an interesting challenge.

@Porcospino I have this hope that one day my husband will surprise me with one for a birthday or something. I think there is an Escape the Room series done by Geek and Sundry on Youtube. I might have to check it out one of these days.

Good point. I wouldn't do it with strangers, but it would be different with a group of close friends that I trust.

When I read 'locked rooms', I stopped reading. This is not a post for members suffering from claustrophobia!

That is what I meant when I wrote that some people wouldn't like the idea. It could be a fun activity for some people or the completely opposite if you have claustrophobia.

In that situation it is best to stay away from that type of game. Some people enjoy it, but it is not for everyone.

I think it would be scary if you have claustrophobia. Some people wouldn't find this games fun or interesting at all. If you don't like locked rooms, this game is probably not a good choice.

That is definitely not for me. You would need to have absolute trust in the people you play this game with. I am claustrophobic and locked/closed in spaces are not my cup o' java.

I read that some companies use it as a team building activity, but I hope people are allowed to choose if they want to participate or not, because there are people who feel the same way about it as you do.
