I’ve written before about painted grain silos and here is another beauty which we saw in Tumby Bay in South Australia. The mural covers 2200 square metres and was painted by Argentinean artist Martin Ron over a period of five weeks. The artist spent over a week in the town looking over historical photos for ideas. Then he saw local kids jumping off the jetty and decided he had foud his subject. The artwork was quite complex because of the horizontal nature of the image. The town has a population of about 2,600. A roomy carpark has been set up near the silos to allow tourists in pull in off the highway and take photos in safety.

@judyev Now if I were walking home early one morning after a night on the razzle I’d probably phone the police to report children falling out of the sky if I saw that. I’m such a good citizen.

@jobelbojel I haven't written about all of them. It's impossible to keep up with everyone. You'd be here all day if you tried.

It's nice to have painted the same color of the sky, so that the image "melts" into reality.

That's true. It does seem to merge into the sky.

@JudyEv Yes they certainly do. I love when people paint things. They do that in Jerussalem too. I love looking at scenes on buildings here.

That's great they made a spot where people can pull over to admire this art and take photos. I recall other photos you shared in the past of beautifully painted silos. The painting on this one looks so realistic it's amazing!

It seems very well done. I have seen many a painted water tower here, but not sure if I have ever seen a painted silo.

It is a master piece with local colour.I think that It is no mean feat to draw such a large adornment picture on the silos.

I should think they would be very hard to paint on such a large scale.

Those really are attractive. They certainly make what would have been just plain silo into something very special.

It's a nice thing for the small town and I'm sure it's caused a few people to stay a bit longer - and hopefully buy an ice-cream or whatever.

It is a holiday town and lots of children would relate to jumping into the sea from the jetty.

The artist did a great job with the mural. We just had an Argentinian artist come to our city and paint several murals on the sides of couple of our downtown buildings. The art murals have become quite an attraction, drawing more people into the downtown area to walk around and look at all the art.
