A Creative Way To Use Stale Bread

My husband is a genius! We bought a baguette to make into garlic bread, but we ran out of garlic, and the baguette went stale before we had a chance to use it. Not wanting to waste it, we put our heads together, to think. We have some really good cartons of various types of Campbells soup here. These are gourmet soups, not just the regular stuff in a can. Among our favourites are mushroom in white wine, tomato basil bisque, asparagus with basil, and potato leek with bacon. My husband hut the baguette up into croutons, soaked them in garlic butter with just a hint of lemon, and dropped them into cups of potato leek and bacon soup, with a bit of cheese on top of the soup. This created a delicious addition to the soup, as well as a great way to use up the baguettes. It was an easy meal, and not expensive at all. We loved it! How do you use up stale bread?

Stale bread can still make good toast.

Though I've never really eaten or used stale bread, I heard that you can toast it.

I’ve never thought of toasting that. Good idea. My husband and I hate to waste food.

If it's hard enough you can grate it for bread crumbs.
Or, you can use stale bread in bread pudding.

Excellent idea! Mom also used it for turkey dressing.

That is a great idea. I have thought of giving it to the birds but I usually throw it out or have toasted it.
