7 Foot Boa Constrictor On The Loose

United States
July 31, 2018 9:39am CST
That's the newsfeed that came across my tv a few minutes ago. A 7 foot boa constrictor is loose in Montgomery County here in Pennsylvania. Thank goodness I don't live in Montgomery County because I'm not a fan of snakes and just the thought of this 7 foot boa roaming around free scares the heck out of me. I can't even imagine sitting on my deck enjoying a nice cup of coffee and then having this boa slither across the grass. I'm not wishing any harm to this snake but hopefully it will be caught. I don't understand people who keep snakes like this as pets especially considering they are so big and dangerous. What do you think about these being pets?

I don't agree with them as pets either. I hope they find it. I saw there was a python loose in California this morning. What is it, the season for snake breakouts? Heather mentioned there was one loose in her neck of the woods too, in Kansas.

My step-father used to give me snakes, but I couldn't keep them because my grandmother wouldn't let me. I like snakes.

I am no friend of those snakes either. These need to disappear.

Those snakes need to be in their own habitat not as a pet

We had the same happening up in the north of Switzerland two days ago. The police is trying to find out who is the owner. When they find him, this will cost him a lot of money.

@Marilynda1225 I cannot believe that people keep big snakes as pets and they do not even take care to keep them in a safe place. I hope that nobody here around is so crazy to keep snakes as pets.

I'm assuming it was a pet since my area isn't boa constrictor territory

@Marilynda1225 People are crazy to pet a wild thing. They put others in neighborhood also to risk.

Now that would be startling! If you are going to keep a dangerous snake as a pet..at least you could make sure it doesn't escape!

Wonder if it escaped or if the owner let it loose

It almost makes you wonder if the pet owner realized that they no longer wanted or could care for such a large animal. In my opinion, any "pet" that cannot be cuddled would be too much work for their worth. I did enjoy our koi fish in the pond, and the couldn't be cuddled, although you could stroke them if you wanted to lean down and put your hand into the water and do so. I wonder if that snake was let loose as the owner didn't know how else to dump it. I mean that is why there are so many stray dogs and cats.

It's a good possibility that either the snake escaped or was let loose. I'm assuming it was a pet as those snakes aren't naturally in this area. I just hope it doesn't harm someone's dog,cat or child before it's captured
