One sport that is harder than it looks

Golf is a very hard sport. In College, I decided to take Golf because with my Major, I had to take a sport. I signed up for it because I thought I would get an easy A. But, no, it was much harder than I thought it would be and ended up with a C as a final grade!
I could hardly hit the ball and when I would hit the ball, I could never hit it very far.
One requirement for the course was to play an 18 hole round. I did not do good. I don't remember my score, but it was real high when it is suppose to be low. Also, we had a written part of the course, and it surprised me how many terms there were in the sport like 'birdie" and "par" etc.
What is so ironic about my hard College Sport class, is that I have a son, who discovered golf as a kid and took lessons and made the Middle School and High School teams and loves the sport and can play very well. He can hit a golf ball with his Driver way far. It amazes me.

I have the same luck with golf that you do. We had a semester of it in high school gym. My score was very high as well. No, I don't play golf, but my siblings do, my son-in-law does, so does my daughter on occasion. It's my son-in-law's sport. He lives for it. I'll stick to mini golf. It's easier and more fun.

I have watched some games on TV but never was motivated to try it myself. It does look very hard.

Ever since my son started playing and liking it, he always tunes into championships like The Masters and others on the TV.

I played for a while, but I was never really good at it. I only played because I got a free trial membership and it included free lessons. My brother also got a free trial membership. He was 9 when he started and he was really good at it from the start.

No, but it is a good physical exercise because you have to walk and walk. So Your son made it up for you!

When he was on the school golf teams, they had to walk to each hole. When he plays just for fun , he rents a golf cart.

My grandfather on my mother's side had a real passion for golf.
As a matter of fact, when my grandfather met my dad for the first time, his first question to my dad was, "Hi, do you play golf?"
But as for me, golf isn't really my thing. I've played it before. I just couldn't get into it.

18 holes is like how many miles of walking? how many hours does it take to finish?

I am not sure how many miles of walking 18 holes is. I do know it takes 4 hours to play 18 holes.

me too. i think golf is a mind- game. my son had this golf toys given by his godmother. even with the big plastic ball, i cannot even hit it with the big golf club.
i also wonder how scores are given for every ball hit and in what locations.

That is why I was glad my son took an interest in it. I really didn't want him playing Foot Ball which is very dangerous.
