Oh yes! I understand perfectly. Being a caregiver is like that, you are just living for that persons needs especially when they are really sick.
You need something to do, you are bored.
That is why I am opening a new online store, I am stuck at home so I am making the best of it.

@amadeo Now tell that to someone who has no legs! Your mind is still good, so put it to work, even sitting it still works.
I take care of a man with stage 4 lung cancer, he "sits" and paints, why? he can`t do so much anymore. Canvas 5 for $20 at hobby lobby, paints .50 each at walmart, a bag of brushes around $5. Paint and sell, donate the money to charity.
Write a book of memories, I am sure you have many secrets that would be so nice to reveal to the world with a big old smile!
Play games online.
Read books that are racy or thrilling.
I don`t play that pity party sh*t so get busy!

Okay, young man--look around at all you have starting with the man who loves you!! Look at your home! Look out the window at what you see! Look at all the people who care about you! Sorry you are not allowed to be in a funk and you are too old to claim 'that time of the month'
And guess what--I am listening to the original Broadway cast of "A Chorus Line"--and "What I Did For Love" is now on--think about that and you'll be out of your 'funk'!

Oh yes, I get a lot of those days. I have manic depression, so I can one day be the chipper and ready to go and the next I will want to just hide and never talk to or see anyone again. But it is good to just let yourself have a little breather and find something simple to do with your mind.

Life can revolve in a cycle of good days and bad ones. Some days are just bad days, that's all. You have to experience sadness to know happiness, and I remind myself that not every day is going to be a good day, that's just the way it is!

Sometimes I feel that I am not myself. Does that mean I'm in a funk?

I'm sorry that you are in this rut.
I kinda know how you feel, I'm like that these days myself.
I have a co-worker who is constantly texting, calling and emailing me, and I am off from work with an injury. I don't need nor want to hear her complaining about work.
So, I avoid her communication like the plaque.
Cheer up my friend.

I know how you feel. All I can suggest to try to at least distract from what's bothering you is play some favorite music or watch a good movie or get outside for activity or watch something funny or talk it over with your partner. I know how difficult it is get out of funks (feeling down) but all you can do is try.
