A lot of parts of many countries have been under Colonial rule in some period in the past. India was under Colonial rule for almost two Centuries. Hindi is the mother tongue here with a lot of local and regional languages. It's Britishers who brought is English language which is the international language now. All I am doing here, at other sites, writing work and other professional work is because of this language and I feel grateful and thankful to them for it.

colonial rule has been detrimental to our country in every respect.Only good thing ,though not intended, happened that it united the country under one constitution but only after it ended.English may have another various reasons to be popular enough that you learn and communicate across the globe ,but for that you need not be obliged to those who subjugated you.

I might not agree on this. I think a lot of positive things happened during colonial period. I accept that a lot negative things they intended here and did as well but positive things also happened. I am not thankful for the ruins they did but yes for some good things I am.

Yes. I was just thinking if they have not ruled over so many countries then what would be the international language ? Would Globalization possible without a common known language?
